Larry & All There is an electric step designed especially for the GMC. They are made by Ken Rose @210-681-2440. Cost is approx $350 with controls and is made out of stainless steel with non skid step pad. J.R. Wright 77 Eleganza II

Heinz It is not electric, but it is hinged on the centerline of the step. It folds "up/inward" for travel, reducing the "projection" distance. I was able to leave the step-stool behind with this permanent addition. It is made/sold by Ragusa Pattern works, and he makes other aluminum aftermarket...
