Hello everyone, I'm new here and wanted to introduce myself. I live in the UK and bought my 1976 GMC Eleganza II on eBay almost 5 years ago. The
engine needed replacing but other than that, she was in pretty good original shape.

I'm currently in the New York area having traveled from Fallon NV to New Orleans and then up here over the past month. This is only my second trip,
the first trip was last year up to Grant's Pass, down the West Coast and then onto the Grand Canyon and back to Fallon. The more I travel, the more I
appreciate the sheer brilliance that went into the design of these beautiful machines (and the quality). It's hard to believe they're over 40 yrs old.
I'm really happy with my old rig and I just love driving her around, even though the alignment is out and I've probably got the wrong tire pressures
and I'm probably doing a thousand things wrong, it's a learning curve and it's great fun to progress through the phases of owning, or being owned by,
a GMC Motorhome.
Right now, I'm kinda broken down,I need to overhaul my alternator and brake master cylinder (and try fix a couple of roof leaks) but it's all part of
the experience. Luckily, she held together until I dropped my lady fiend, Lynda, off at JFK. And then, almost as if in protest, she stalled and
wouldn't start and I had to switch the batteries around to get out of the airport terminal. (Okay, Okay, chill out! I didn't know what the boost
button was for at that stage of the game) But I know Lynda wouldn't have minded being stranded in a Wal-Mart car park for a few days, it's all part of
the adventure.

Anyhoo, once I've ironed out these minor problems, I'm heading back to the UK till the next trip, probably back to Fallon via Canada, who knows? In
the meantime, does anyone have any suggestions where I might leave this baby somewhere on the east side and close(ish) to an international airport?
Ideally, not too expensive, around a dollar a day seems the going rate? I don't mind driving a few hundred miles from New York.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards to all.

Jose and Lynda.

I don’t know where you came up with a dollar a day. Around here you will
spend $200-$350 a month to store a mh.

Jose,

We are near Detroit. We live in the shadow of DTW.
Too bad you aren't closer, you could park it here. Next mine an another.
It is only about 600 miles.

I hope you find friendly ground.

i cant help you with storage as I am in MN. Outdoor storage outside of our metro area is about $40/month. Usually if you keep good friends
someone can make a 10x26 spot at a rural location.

Please keep us informed on your travels. Inspiring to those that cant do that much travel.

Good luck.

I didn't expect to find that rate near New York, but hopefully somewhere not too far from here.
That's what we've been paying in Fallon, Nevada and it's what we were quoted at this beautiful RV Park in PA which we found on the way up to New York.
It's called Western Village RV Park, 200 Greenview Dr, Carlisle, Pennsylvania, 17015. Well worth a visit if you're ever in that area. We found it a
bit pricey at $45.00 per night, but we did enjoy our stay there.

Oh wow, that's seriously cool Matt. If you're absolutely sure, maybe we could work something out once I'm back on the road.

God bless.

Jose.

Hello Jon.

Thank you for your kind reply. Yes, we're very lucky, and very grateful, for the opportunities that we've had to travel around your spectacular
country. Hopefully we'll get to have a few more adventures in the near future and keep you informed.

Thanks again.

Jose.

Around here 50 to 100 per month will get you locked inside storage inside an airplane hangar. Another place to check are fairgrounds. Many store
RV's inside for the winter cheap. There are usually many building available during the winter. So will allow you to plug in also. I have someone's
GMC stored inside my hangar for free, which means that my GMC mine is stored in another hangar also for free.

Ask around smaller airports and fairgrounds. Also outside storage at U-lock-it places ought to be pretty cheap.

Most of the outside storage here is filled. The RV boom is real, and it’s hard to find space.

Another alternative in our area are the repurposed limestone mines. I know of at least one GMC being stored in the “smallest” mine, which is 2.5 million square feet! It’s cheaper than the outdoor storage, but access days and times are restricted over the winter months.

Thanks for your input Ken, I never would have thought about that, especially the fairgrounds.

Thank you Dave, that's another option I'd never have considered.
