Ugh! I have a ‘74 Canyon Lands model but all of that 🍊 orange 🍊 has long been replaced. I can’t imagine purchasing that color scheme back in 1973!
There are so many people on the boards trying to find interior components (drapes, carpet, upholstery, etc.) to get their rigs back to original from the horrible "upgrades" made in the nineties. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The Canyon Lands and Glacier interiors are my favorites, but the sheer audacity/magnificence of the Sequoia green can't be denied!

I'm one of those looking for original 1974 Canyon Lands upholstery. Let me know if you have a whole or partial set.

i remember when they came out. Those were popular colors. Even those SHAG carpets. never cared for shag really.
In my mind, my RV is fine with vinyl floor tiles for easy clean up and throw carpets for comfy toes. Easy to take outside and shake out or replace too.

My GMC was a GLACIER in its former life.
Its original color was Sky BLUE. Not much of that left, I think the rear bed room has a cloth on the wall in some kind of weave design and below the big back window is a blue vinyl wall covering. EVerything else is gone.

The GMC has had 3 prev owners, I'm the 4th and each of those owners had a hand at tearing out the old and putting something else in its place, eliminating things on some items. For instance, I have no wall cabinets, they took them all out. The breakfast table and chairs, GONE.
It looks nice, and roomy, but its not all that practical.
I have a folding table that can be used but the chairs don't face each other in the nook.

I think they hired someone from home and gardens for the "latest" style and colors, and Shag Carpeting, oh my.
I have only seen one or two that are still close to OEM from the factory. Most have had upgrades done.

Well, except the the blue snag carpet was a total loss, our coach is about how it left Pontiac. We like it that way. In a 23 without a built in vacuum, the snag was hard to care for. Fortunately, we also have a period Kerby complete with snag rack, but at about 45yo, the carpet just could not make it any more.
GM did actually hire Better Homes and Gardens as consultants for all of the style, floor plan and colors. They sure are 70's colors. The Glacier Blue scheme is all that bad.

There are hints that the original carpet in my 260 is just overlayed with the newer stuff and lays gloriously underneath the protective layer

CARPET
Our GMC's need some kind of carpet if you travel and stay in it overnight.
It acts like an insulation between your feet and the floor. Shoes do not help keep my feet
warm when the floor is ice cold.
The Prev owner installed some right weave carpet, honestly it probably would have done well in
a house but in the GMC, it is having a rough life.
On the main floor as I mentioned, I tiled then use throws.
To help with the floor coldness, I have thought to aim the heater register to direct a blast of warm
air onto the floor to warm it up.
There is a company that makes a film thin heat that is laid under a carpet or laminate flooring.
it uses 120v, it is pricy but not totally out of reach.
My RV has the original spray insulation in the walls. The effects of all these years and the heat has shrunk
that insulation to nothing. It would take a total disassemble to respray foam again to regain the insulation
qualities to fight heat and cold.
I probably won't be going that route.
I can only guess the carpet that was OEM was SHAG and the theme seemed to have been BLUE/with brown dash and seats.
Never saw the seats it was delivered with but I have seen some brochures.
Those cabinets in blue, WOW.
As for overhead cabinets, I have no idea what there was. The GMC didn't come with any from the PO.
So storage is always a concern. I did create a storage hole under the double bed, and that helps.
I do sort of like seeing out those tall big windows.

The only trace of the original left in mine was the sofa - Sequoia green. Probably the first thing I removed! My driver/passenger seats though are blue. Don't know where they came from. I'd love to get a hold of one of those little tables for the cockpit area if anyone has one for sale.

I have a 1976 Eleganza II. It has the standard beige/cream exterior paint. However, what remains of the original interior looks like the Palm Beach interior. I have remnants of the original green, shag carpeting under my driver's seat pedestal, as well as that same carpet lining my storage compartment on the rooftop. And, my seats in the rear lounge still sport the original green, plaid fabric. Is this right? My cabinet doors are all solid, and not the louvered kind found in Palm Beaches. I have Floor Plan #1 as described in the 1976 Option Selector referenced above.

Don't give up on your search. 3 years ago, from this thread, I found a box of original GMC flower power take off material. It's the more common yellow/orange Canyon Lands colors. I haven't had them installed yet, but one of these days I will. I'd bet someone has a box of blue flower power material in the back of their garage they'd love to get rid of. Good luck.PXL_20250722_211832408.webp

Now that im part of the GMC motorhome family I have been keeping an eye out for any parts or interior pieces im missing. I just would love to see how these came out of the factory. From doing research im pretty sure my interior is original. Not sure about the paint job though. Grandpa was in the middle of painting it when I got it.20250524_085621.webp20250524_085830.webp20250524_085930.webp20250524_090110.webp20250524_134854.webp

It looks to me like the seat behind the drivers seat is a copilot buddy seat. There were several options for seating in that location. The carpet looks like it may have been a couch/bunk bed or couch/fold out bed. Our 74 Canyon Lands has 2 single chairs with a small fold away table in that space.

I'm not sure about your paint job. I do see some trim modifications from stock like your grill and headlight covers are all silver instead of silver and black and your beltline trim is blue instead of black. And what's up with the VW nose badge??? If you still have original paint, it might be worthwhile touching it up in an effort to save it. Original paint is amazing and even at 50+ years old is still better then most modern paints. My coach has touched up mostly original paint. I think your paint scheme looks nice but could use some touchup. Welcome to the groupPXL_20250120_214640300.webp

My grandfather loved his VW and would put those badges everywhere. From his golftcarts to his GMC motorhome. He had a box of them ready to go as soon as he got a new toy or project!

I definitely want to put a bigger couch where the buddy seat is. I think the buddy seat is only big enough for my dog right now hahahaha
