The countdown begins

T minus 9 days to departure for Colorado.

Ken Frey called to let me know that he had found the following:
1) Left front ball joint so loose that it is hitting the crossmember

2) Right front bearing is bad
3) One bogie pin is worn but okay for a while.
4) My by-the-eye allignment stinks.

In addition to the above he is going to:
1) Install actual mufflers in place of the noisy glass packs which
have prompted the kids to call it the "F*rter home".
2) Six wheel allignment (seven including the spare?)
3) Lean out the idle mixture to reduce the amount of raw gas that
comes out of the tail pipe at idle.

In the five days I will have the coach prior to departure I will attempt
to:
1) Install new furnace
2) Install roof pod
3) Install bike rack
4) Fabricate console to hold stereo, guages and new A/C vents
5) Install addional air vents from A/C unit
6) Install 6th blind
7) Install kitchen overhead cabinet, light and microwave
8) Install Inverter to power microwave
9) Patch leaky #2 tank
10) Check all systems and pack
In the time I have left over, I have another list of things to do....Oh,
I am also working next week....I guess I may not get to one or two
things before I go.

Ron - if you do all of those things you are really going to need that
vacation. You'll probably be too tired to drive!! Better have Julie
do a lot of the driving. If she hasn't tried it she should. She'll
probably like it after she gets used to it.

My wife, Michelle, does her share of the driving -- especially if we
are on a long trip and want to put on a lot of miles. I can nap
while she drives.

Julie, unfortunately, drives by "feel".... When she feels one curb, she moves
to the other side. In one six month period, she did in 5 tires and two
rims. She has improved since I convinced her that no one could see her in
the car if she actually wore her driving glasses! I do intend to have her
drive the curvey parts of the roads through Indiana (if I can find any).

It is good to know that apparently living in Connecticut is
the reason that my task list usually looks like Ron's. I
replaced my ball joints in January (you might remember me
complaining about the -20 wind chill). When I removed the
right ball joint it literally fell apart in my hands, the
only thing holding the ball in the socket was the rubber,
Yikes, glad I did not hit any big bumps with it like that.
Good luck with getting everything done, make sure you have
a copy of the Black list with you, it sounds like you might
need it.

Ron,

Good luck with all your projects - remember, bike racks and roof pods are
optional, just make sure that new furnace works!
