Sealing leaks on roof

Has anyone ever tried Flex Seal tape on the front and rear cap seams as well as along the rain gutters as a temporary solution until the seams can be
properly resealed? I wonder if it would stand up for 6 months or so?

I used some tape remnant that a detailer gave me. It was 10 feet long and
had no name on it. It had the stickiest adhesive on it that I have ever
seen, and it had a separation paper between the layers on the roll. The
substrate itself was very soft and pliable. After I applied it to the leaky
rear cap seam, I used a hard brayer roller to seal it down. That was in
April of 2012, and it still looks good. The retailer said that it was the
best stuff he had ever seen in 30 years. At this point, I would tend to
agree with him. I wish I knew what the brand name is/was. Any guesses?.

My guess is Eternabond. That stuff is amazingly grippy.

We had some aluminum radio equipment buildings at remote radio tower sites that started to leak. They are built using extruded aluminum corners with
sides and roof of foam core aluminum sheets same as used to build truck bodies. The builder sent out a guy to silicon the joints since they were less
than 1 year old, but that did not work.

So I saw this roll of roofing joint tape at the building center. It was a butyl like compound with a heavy aluminum foil backing about 4" wide. I just
taped over the roof joints and no more leaks, the oldest ones were done in 2005 and still no leaks. I suspect the aluminum backing protects it from
the elements. I don't think it would come off easily, more a long term fix.

I don't know the name of it, but it was just a roofing product at a building supply store. It came in 2" wide versions as well.

Used this product from 3M 9 months ago on both caps and side rails.

Very sticky stuff. One roll did both front and rear seams as well as the
two side rails.
At the time it only came in a box of six rolls at approxiamately $300.

I would be curious if you can get the eternabond off if you want to paint or do a mechanical refresh of the sealer later - especially the side seams.
Before I put it on, anyone have experience taking it off?

Yes, i do.

Heat it up to soften the adhesive and then pull off with a scraper. The
adhesive remnants will come off with further scraper efforts, and whats
left with a vast amounts of mineral spirits or the like, and alot of
scrubbing! The good news is how heat sensitive it is. removal on a nice hot
day is easier than running a heat gun, scraper, mineral spirits and rag
with only two hands (while on a ladder, or kneeling)

I see no reason to remove if you do not have to. Aesthetics are my only
concern... It looks like you have tape run front/rear and across.

Add that eternabond is paintable. I use it for final seal on roof vents, etc.
