Sealant for the roof rails

I am still fighting the front cap seam and I have tried just about everything except butyl. I think butyl would be very messy especially when it gets hot and I doubt you can paint over it.
As 74-Coach says here that the front and back seams are a potential issue. I’ve seen pics of some pretty narled up metal after what appeared to be a attempt to dig out old butel sealant. I’m hoping not to do that. Is there a recommended seam sealing method for front and back seams?

Thanks,
Tom

Self leveling Dicor seems to work well. Tape off the seams, about an eighth of an inch past the edge of the seam and pull the tape as soon as the sealant has been applied.

Self-leveling Dicor across front & back roof seams stopped all leaks when I did this, but I didn't think of masking tape - that's a great idea.

I ended up using:

3M Marine Adhesive Sealant 4000 UV

So far, no leakage. I did notice that the mounting bolts for the rear roof mount AC were loose. I tightened them up but never had a chance to check during a rain storm.

I just ran a strip of eternabond. Fixed any leaks. Also used it at the windshield/roof seam.
