Hello GMC Net'ers
After a 13 month absence in Omaha, I have returned to Phoenix where my GMC
has been stored. I am in process of re-doing front end, including servicing
CV joints. I also have removed the right-side output shaft with the
intention of servicing the bearing. After looking at it some more, I'm not
sure what to do: 1) Leave it alone (bearing does not sound dry), 2)
replace the bearing, or 3) press the bearing off and re-pack it. Does
anyone have experience/suggestions with this bearing.
The reason I am on the fence here is that the bearing looks like a sealed
bearing --like a clutch throw-out bearing. If so, servicing probably means
replacing. What is life expectancy if it is a sealed bearing. Will
appreciate any ideas/suggestions.
