Rear bearing seals

Was just going thru old posts trying to find post on steering box to
send to Arch when I came across post from Tom Warner on 2/14. Anyway
Tom posted #s for rear bearing inner and outer seals. I just replaced
rear brngs and book showed no seal for outer bearing. Does anyone know
if there should be outer seal and why its not in GM parts book?

inner seal is Federal 5123, national 5123, NAPA 47471, or Delco 290-19.
OUter seal is Federal 5109, National 5109, NAPA 47470, or Delco 290-17.
