TOTAL DISTANCE 3100 miles
OVERALL MILEAGE 8 MPG ( some head-wind on return trip)(also towing
VW)
NO MECHANICAL PROBLEMS WHAT-SO-EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1973 26FT
NEW ENGINE(7000 MILES)
HOWELL TBI
CASPRO POWER DRIVE(350)
JARDINE EXAUST
THORLEY HEADERS

2700 RPMs at 60 MPH
OIL PRESSURE AT 3/4 mark on original gauge
ENGINE TEMP just below 1/2 mark (hayden fan clutch did not engage until air
temp outside rose above 80)
TRANS TEMP 165 (at pan with RUGUSO PAN)

Wish I could report vacuum but that half of my brand new TACVAC did not work
right out of the box. They are sending a new one.

Caspro EKE started to allow ping in mid TEXAS. Set up the sensitivity and
corrected that.

I changed to MOBIL 1 for this trip. Oil pressure increased slightly, no
noticeable change in engine temp, but I went from a quart every 1200 miles
to 1 quart for the entire trip(3100 miles). I used 15/50 weight. Not sure
what to think about the almost no oil use. Been told these 455s need to
lubricate some?????

OVERALL A VERY ENJOYABLE TRIP!!!!!

'77 Royale, 26' First trip out of Florida since purchase in August, '99
No Toad
Engine = 403 cu in
Final drive = 3.07

Total miles = 1906
Gas mileage: Out = 10.5 mpg
Back = 9.5 mpg ( strong headwinds and higher speeds)

Rationale: New ignition system; Had Bob Lamey rebuild distributer, plus new cap,
rotor, coil, module and plug wires. Was only getting about 8.5 mpg before
changes. Also found a couple of vacuum leaks to fix.

Oil consumption = 1.5 qts. Mobil HD 40

This was our first International Rally. We really had a good time. Met lots of
nice people.

Now that is the way to have a trip. I had to change to 15W 50 Mobile One
just to get 900 miles to a quart on a rebuilt engine.
