Having flown small plains in the past. Per flights become a habit. And that has carried over to our GMC. I have a check list hanging from my shift lever. And is only removed when the list is completed. That list covers items like. Awning secured, hatches locked, TV antenna down, pod closed/pined, windows closed, dolly pined with straps tight, utilities properly secured, all fluids OK, tires checked for damage/pressure, and so on. We all know this stuff. But if someone comes by. These distractions put us in a position to over look the fact that the pod wasn't pined shut. And we get to our destination without the top of that $400 pod. And no lawn chairs. Or an insurance claim to repair some strangers car paint job. Something to think about at any age. Good plan Bob.
As an addendum on hooking up the toad I always make it a habit to do all the hookup by myself. If someone offers help I refuse it. I try not to talk
to anyone during the process and make sure not to distract anyone while they are hitching up. It's way to easy to miss a step of the routine
anymore- CRS maybe?

I vote with Hal. While I appreciate the thought of others being helpful, I remember the time I trusted the local pilot examiner designee to
preflight the little Beech he was checking me out in. Long story short, it ended up with several gallons of water in one tank and I hadda change
underwear after I got home that night. Do it yourself, or it ain't done to your satisfaction.

Well, Johnny, it takes away one of your excuses when crap happens. You can
only look in the mirror for who is to blame. But, I agree with you and Hal.
Check it yourself is a good mantra.

It wasn't that long ago my brother helped me hook up the toad. It didn't take me long to burn up the toad brakes my brother had left the emergency
brake on!

How about a item on the checklist for storage shed door ALL the way up. Or at least above the AC?
But at least the new AC is quieter than the old dented one!!
