Tom,
We're talking about 4 strokes. The Mercury Marine reference below is
about 4 stroke outboards and was the only oil reference I found on their
web page. A web search turned up a hornets nest about 2 stroke oils and
Mercury Marine's recommendations. The consensus in that group was that
Mercury was using their service recommendations to sell overpriced
oil. Maybe their stand on 4 strokes is the same sort of effort.
Still would like to hear their side of the story.
