Oil Filters - WTF??

Yup, as John confirmed below, Napa gold is Wix. So my Napa 21258 on the engine is actually a Wix and easy to get. Thanks guys.

I'm running into a similar thing trying to change the top on my Miata, the 3M adhesive I need seems to have changed a digit in Canada (08011 vs
80119). Have to confirm if it's the same stuff with them tomorrow.

There's an independent auto parts store about 2 miles from my house that seems to have NO problem getting
WIX filters for me with next day availability. I use them to get me filters for my DODGE Grand Caravan and
for my GMC YUKON XL when I still had it. Based on the part numbers in the oil filter thread I believe I have a
couple of versions of WIX Filters for GMC MHs. I have these in case anyone with a GMC MH is passing through
Toronto and is desperate for an oil filter. Oil would be easy to get 7 days week.

I use the WIX 51049 on my 403.

OE filter was ACDelco PF30. This is superceded by PF61. Yes it’s narrower than the 24 or 30 but is the filter GM recommends. I’ve been using
them for 7 years.

I tried the 51049 and I believe it is real close to the bolt flanges on the right axle, you can get it on, but it's scary close and it doesn't have
anti-drain back valving.
Just my 2 cents worth, I've tried several different filters but always come back to the 51258 just to easy to walk into NAPA and get.

Have used the Wix 51049 oil filter for 20 years without issue, does not interfere!

It is always best to use the filter with maximum media area as that gives
least amount of flow resistance and more area for particulates to land on.
I agree it is closer to a rotating part, but that is where we go by the
risk statistics and most of us do.

This is where I wonder if those Bosch filters I got are good or not, they are heavy, like they have a lot of media in the can, but the can is smaller.
Might cut one apart to see, they were cheap and I have two.

Also, not GMC, but on the subject, I have a H6 Subaru that takes a fairly small filter, the update was to install an even smaller one as it seems the
original was too long and close to the exhaust and was picking up heat causing oil temps to rise.

I can confirm the Wix 51258 DOES fit the 403. Been using that one for 8 years, no problems at all with it.
