Just wanted to say hi.. After much research (thx, I read a lot of the archives on this list and site before writing the cheque) - bought a '77 26 foot and am starting to add it to my list of many things to do..

I live in Halifax Nova Scotia, Canada.. The home has 47,000 miles on it (paradise is never more than 100 miles away up here).. It seems to be fairly intact save some wierdo Onan patches and dead duo-therm air conditioner.. as well as the usual dead shocks, loose 'steering control arm' - bad lower right ball joint - rotted tires - almost rotted air-bags.. general 'we're selling it - not maintaining it ' pwobs..

What I was wondering is; has anyone had any luck looking for a low amperage heat exchanger to replace the roof air conditioner?.. I'm convinced that there was a simple non-freon compressor I read about years ago in Pop-Sci that would do the trick (Rovac, or Rovak or something like that) used in the aircraft industry - but can't find it using net.. Hoping it was marketed under new name or the like..

Love to hear from owners, flag me with an email if you're planning to be around Nova Scotia - totally new to the RV thang' but can pass along a couple of hints for good clams and interesting stops.. There are a couple some real nice GMC owners (people who have had them for a much longer time than me) up here I can put you in touch with if you are in the area and in trouble..

Congradulations on your new acquisition up there J.D.! I am entering my
500th day of GMC ownership and still loving it myself.

I don't know that much about A/C, but I think I do sometimes when I am
sitting at a computer keyboard. I know the auto makers were looking into a
system like you discribed but that it was not simple, cheap or very
effective. Based on this, your best bet if you want something not too
expensive is to search some of the rv parts superstores, including new and
used for a more conventional unit. Patrick has a nice starting list on his
site
http://www.gmcmotorhome.com/resources.html under appliances. If there is
such a unit, I would really like to see it, even if it is not for RV's.
What do you need A/C up there for anyway? :-).

Going to ride my bike (bicycle) up there one day to the west coast of
Newfoundland to St Anthony, probably in 2001. Sooner though am going to do
the Annapolis Valley and maybe the Cabot Trail in the next couple of weeks.

Best of luck with your GMC! walter bright, 76 GB, Delanco, NJ

Interesting way to put it. I just checked and it has been 696 days since I
bought my GMC. Here I thought I was one of the newest kids of the block with my
GMC! It looks like I'm turning into an old timer here :^)

Boy time sure flies when you're having fun (with your GMC)!

J,

Welcome to the group. Mike Beaton, longtime GMCer and member of GMCnet,
is a sometimes resident of Antigonish. He'll probably chime in
when he gets around to reading his mail.
