After all the scary talk about wheels flying off our GMC's, today I
called my insurance agent, RValliance (formerly Alexander and Alexander)
to make sure I was paid up in full. I was told not to worry and also
informed about a "discount" that I previously wasn't aware of.
When this company's "disappearing deductibles" were intoduced 4 or 5
years ago I signed up. Now it turns out that by not having made any
claims since then, my deductible has now effectively dropped to zero.
So there's no disaddvantage to having the highest deductible on the
policy allowed in my state (TN). By increasing the deductible to the
maximum by just asking for it, my yearly premium dropped $50 dollars (I
was already carrying a large deductible or it would have been more).
The only draw back will be if I do have to make a claim the
"disappearing duductible" cycle starts over. In that case I'll need to
lower the policy deductible again to a more comfortable level but the
premium will go up. So I should come out ahead if those wheels will
just stay on. Anyway, maybe some others on this list could save some $
if they've also "zeroed out" on deductibles with RValliance.
