After all the scary talk about wheels flying off our GMC's, today I
called my insurance agent, RValliance (formerly Alexander and Alexander)
to make sure I was paid up in full. I was told not to worry and also
informed about a "discount" that I previously wasn't aware of.

When this company's "disappearing deductibles" were intoduced 4 or 5
years ago I signed up. Now it turns out that by not having made any
claims since then, my deductible has now effectively dropped to zero.
So there's no disaddvantage to having the highest deductible on the
policy allowed in my state (TN). By increasing the deductible to the
maximum by just asking for it, my yearly premium dropped $50 dollars (I
was already carrying a large deductible or it would have been more).

The only draw back will be if I do have to make a claim the
"disappearing duductible" cycle starts over. In that case I'll need to
lower the policy deductible again to a more comfortable level but the
premium will go up. So I should come out ahead if those wheels will
just stay on. Anyway, maybe some others on this list could save some $
if they've also "zeroed out" on deductibles with RValliance.

Emery and Troops........We keep talking about comparing rates, but we never
talk about coverage. What coverage do you get for $378 or $1200. Collision?
Liability? Medical? UninsuredMotorist? Theft? Apples and oranges? At this
point, we can't compare anything.

Let's compare rates. My rate with RV Alliance is $378 per year. I know
that
this will vary from state to state. AAA wanted about $1200.

Here is the way my RVAA policy is written and the costs:

The policy is with Royal & Sunalliance

Liability 500,000 each occurrence $103
Med Paymts 5,000 each person 9
Comp (excl Collision) ACV 250/ded 98
Collision ACV 250/ded 142
PIP
21
MH Plus II coverage 7
MH Agreed Value $43,900 36
Towing/Disablement $500/per disablement 0
TOTAL $416

As I have a disappearing deductable that is reduced by 25% each year for
good behavior and no claims, my deductible is insignificant.

I hope this helps. BTW, I have been insured with A&A since March 1976 and
they don't come better.

That's what I get for $129/6 months. And they are real good about paying
claims too.
