I've got another $.02 - something that's occurred to me several times
since I subscribed, and the Tom Warner - Jim Bounds exchange of today
has reminded me of it again.

Like Tom, I too have been briefly irritated by a contribution to the
list that stops just short of where it might - for example, not
discussing the costs of an upgrade, after doing an outstanding job
otherwise (technically). Jim, too, has on occasion "left out" parts
of a story that would have been of interest to me.

But I feel most fortunate that people like Jim, Heinz (in British
Colombia), Arch (anyone that counts an Itasca Phasar among the heads
in his garage is truly a force!), and many others, have shared
experiences and lessons-learned that have been of great benefit for
everyone reading the list.

Jim, in particular, is in the business of selling his expertise,
provides a considerable amount of no-cost, excellent information, as
well as the willingness to foot the telephone bill if anyone wants to
follow up. I can only hope, Jim, that your business base is growing -
if you were less than 3,000 miles away, I'd happily darken your door
when I needed your services. You're earned my respect since you got
onto the list. I'd hate to think what I'd have had to pay to learn
all that you've taught me!

Many thanks to all of you professional amateurs, and professional
professionals , for sharing! You make the list work for everyone.

Bill

I feel a strong need to 'chime' in here on the topic of 'list contributors'.
My project of reworking a Transmode back into motorhome service may not be
reflective of the main stream mailist user, but this list has been a bounty
of information that I have been able to use. Most notably, all of the
resources, that I have gotten access to, have been outstanding. From
important things like brake system improvements to costmetic things like the
recent grill refurbishing have been useful in my project. Without this
resource,I would be lost and, in fact, may it is the difference in if my
project is successful or not!!

Thom, I know exactly how you feel. The reason I started this list was
not that I knew so much about GMC's, it was that I realized how much I
didn't know. My experience with other mailing lists led me to believe
that the only way I would ever be able to use my GMC would be with the
assistance of others thru a mailing list.

I'm just incredibly pleased how well it's turned out. We have a good
balance of experience levels and a high s/n ratio, not to mention a
group of just plain ol' nice guys(and gals!). BTW, the web page is one
year old this month and GMCnet will have its first birthday next month.

Patrick:

I'd like to add my acclaimation for the existence of the website and this
list on their first anniversaries. It certainly has helped this newbie
immensely. Sincere congrats!!

Took the coach out for a run today after installing the polyurethane sway
bar bushings & 4 new KYB rear shocks to match the recent fronts. *What* a
difference !!! The old shocks: right front bogey had a Monroe (was
still legible) that was completely shot. Left front still worked 75%. The
other two had maybe 50% capability left, but in *opposite directions*.
All were different shocks.

So most of the wander went away. Except for being a bit sensitive to
changes in road camber and a bit of unpredictablility on jounce (which I'm
sure can be aligned out, or maybe need new control arm bushings/and/or ride
height adjustments.....) I can live with it for now.

Gotta tackle the genset next, then maybe we'll be ready for the Marion
rally as newbies, hopefully. Cosmetics must wait. Genset remote-started &
worked fine on purchase, ran the roof AC fine, etc. The remote start went
away, gen doesn't want to keep running, dies after a couple minutes or so.
(drawer out) It *will* start with jumpered solenoid. After 4 or 5
jumpered starts with drawer pulled out, it will finally stay running. Fuel
line is new, fuel filter clean. Cleaned electrical connections at starter,
lubed carb linkage pivot points w/teflon grease, only getting 9.4 volts to
the solenoid from the remote switch. Dunno what to look for.

Taking tomorrow off, then back to troubleshooting the coach Monday.

Hat's off to all the fine contributors on this list!!

As always, best regards.
