While working on my kitchen, I noticed that the drain line was loose and it looked like someone had tried to seal it up in the past.

Typical 1973 kitchen module with two drawers

While checking cable clearance...and I noticed drainpipe movement when I closed the lower drawer

The #2 drawer is clearly striking the clean-out cap and causing stress on the drain line

It shows on the back of the drawer

And some 50 year inter-action on the clean-out cap itself

While enjoying the thread about GMC #22 in the museum and I looked at the pictures and behold
2nd drawer notch #22.webp
The lower drawer is notched to accommodate the clean-out cap.

I am going to notch my lower drawer to match #22

This discovery says something about your sharp eye and the thoroughness of Karen's photographs!

Weird that they notched the drawer back in the very earliest model but not in the later 73s. 🤔

Wonder why they didn't just switch to a flush clean out plug?

On further inspection, I cannot "cutout" enough drawer to accommodate the clean-out because it sits lower and would compromise the drawer integrity

Work-around:
I just flipped the clean-out cap, inserting the "sticking-out" part inside and tightened it down with a 1x1 piece of wood, which fit the slot perfect
It does not block the drain-line when flipped

I am running some 12vdc LiFePO4 battery stuff and was making sure the drawers did not interfere

I also noticed that have to restore the plastic drawer stops and some other pieces
