internet speed

Hey Gene don't complain my Internet connection is only 18kbps on a dialup
modem. Just checked it.

Hi,

I have found that very often I see answers to
questions that have not yet been posted. I don't
think this has as much to do with each individuals
internet connection as it does with their internet
ISP.

Anyhow, that's how I see it.

Hi all

Just so you can all be envious. My ADSL link clocks out at 2400kbps or 294.1 K bytes/second. In
Canada things have to move faster just to keep warm.

SHOWOFF! :-)

I "used to" download as fast as 800 kbps on occasion with my direcpc
satellite internet dish. They got to be very undependable though and now
throttle back the bandwidth after one downloads a certain amount in a
certain period of time. It was great while it lasted though. It's
probably going to be the best I ever do out here in the sticks. I'm stuck
with 56k dialup now and it don't look like it'll ever get any better.

btw, I'm fixin to sell the satellite dish if anyone here wants it. It's
still good for hi speed surfing. Just don't expect to be able to download
large files (over 15 mb at a time) with it.

I'll let it go for $50 and shipping to anyone in this group. It includes
all software, books, dish, and internal pci satellite modem. You have to
subscribe to their service which costs a minimum of $19.95 per month, in
addition to your existing isp.

If anyone's interested, just holler.

DSL her in Rochester bundled with ISP is $35.00 month. At work theu have a
per minute charge for phone usage and the Internet time was adding $25 to $40
a month in phone usage charges. (More if I forgot to do a disconnect at night
- - OUCH). The DSL is FAST and I actually save $15 to $20 a month and get more
info for a lot less time.

Speed today is 337.2 and 41.3. Not bad.

Our cable modem here in South East Michigan costs $39.95 with all included. The
speed just a few minutes ago was:

853.6 kpbs

104.6 K bytes per second

A very nice improvement over the 56K modem we had. Now if I could just figure
out how to get that out in the GMC while on the road.

If you are interested in your connect speed and data
transfer speed and are running Windows, they have a
built in monitor. To get there:

Programs
Accessories
System Tools
System Monitor
Edit
Add Items
Dial-Up Adapter
Pick and choose the items you
wish to monitor.

Seems to give the same results as the msn website,
except on the fly.
