In 1978, I started my business and paid $4,500 for my first service van and charged $25.00/hr for my service rate (auto dealers were about $20.00/hr).
I sold and serviced 2-way radios like police and fire uses and they went for about $1,000 each installed. My dad also sold his 100 acre farm for

In 2018 I sold my business and retired. I paid $45,000 for the last service vehicle (10 x more) and our service rate was $99.00/hr (4 x more) (auto
dealers are now about $135/hr) A 2-way radio of the same capabilities as the 1978 models are about $500 (1/2 the cost). Farms (100 acres) are now
going for $2 million plus around here (16 x more)
Gas has been running about 1.25Cdn/Litre = $5.68Cdn/imperial Gallon or about $3.60US/ US gallon
In has decreased significantly in the past month. Gas today is around $1.05/litre = $4.77CDN/imperial gallon or about $3.01US/ US gallon
So I guess I should have joined my dad in farming!

Comparing apples to apples that 33 cents a gallon would be $2.82 for NON ethanol today in central Florida. Based on the cost of living index that is just slightly more per gallon.

feds, state, and cities are taking their cuts. They have none of the
expenses of production or transportation or facilities, but they make more
per gallon than the oil companies. It is still a bargain compared to other
countries, including our neighbors to the north. Oregon is experimenting
with a per-mile-traveled use tax on hybrid and electric vehicles. It works
with a transponder off of the cars computer.

Leaving the metroplex yesterday morning we paid $1.979 in Dallas, then
topped off again in Marble Falls in the evening for the same 1.979 price.
Along the way, like Hamilton, Texas prices were up to 2.59. The "Gas
Buddy" app on my phone helps me plan fill-ups for best prices. My estimate
is by checking prices ahead on my route we trim at least 20 cents a gallon
on average. When you are putting close to 20,000 miles a year on a GMC
that adds up to substantial savings.

I drove down from Seattle to Los Angeles at the beginning of the month. I'm still down here, headed back next week.
Gas prices in WA and OR were about $3.10 to $3.50 at most, cheapest at the 7 Feathers Indian Reservation.
I got into CA, it went to $4.50 to $4.90. I was remarking to my cousins about the huge difference and was told CA recently passed a massive fuel tax.

The most routinely expensive gas (+$2 to $2.50 vs. Los Angeles) in the State of California (that I am aware of) is at the Lee Vining Chevron station
(a generally unpleasant group of folks there). Lee Vining is on Highway 395 at Mono Lake (6781' of elevation) and is the back entrance to Yosemite.
There is an RV Park in town, and the area is a perfectly lovely place to visit.

Don't get gas in Bridgeport either as bad or worse then lee vining.. I would fill up at the Indian casino in independence on the left going north
cheapest in the area. That will give you enough to reach Gardnerville Nevada. The gas in Gardnerville will be less then any in California.
