We found some locally, but, after a long search, found it in Bridgeport and it
was $15.00 per yard, more than the $3.00 per yard fabric we got on clearance
for the drape material itself. What Julie did (she is the best at this sort of
thing) was to buy a set of drapes (ugly) at a tag sale for $5.00 that had a
backing in perfect condition. She used a razor to cut the seams and viola, she
had plenty of material for our drapes. The drapes she cut up into a couple of
table cloths and some rags.

I probably will come home to find the kids dressed up in clothes made from the
fabric like in "The Sound of Music".

Why not get the new blinds from Guske Sales 810-987-5788. Good price
good quality. Don't think that you could make them for less.

John's right. I got a very nice pleated windshield wrap from Guske. It looks
just like the ones on the $250,000 SOB coaches. Price was not bad either.

Margarete Guske does a great job and is one of the nice GMC people to
work with. I have her blinds and they work wonderfully.

Arch,

I also installed the Guske windshield curtain. It comes with a new track, 2
straight pieces, some bending required, no problem, though. IMO the new
"rollers" are a big improvement over the little plastic hangers.

Hi Peter;

I am looking at the Guske windshield curtain too. I was wondering about
the instalation of the new tracks. Reading others past experience with the
front cap gives me pause in touching anything connected to this particular
piece of hardware but it sounds from your post there is not much to changing
tracks. Do the old ones come off without problems and what do you do to
attach the new ones? Screws? Glue? Rivets? I don't remember seing it
mentioned in Guske's literature. Track bending seemed straight foward. Any
guidance would be appreciated. walter bright, 76GB.

I will tell you a secret from Mr.C

We did not remove the old tracks, we put the new ones on top of the old
ones........ worked great and did not have to remove any rivits..... and
you cannot see the old track. Took about 2 hours to install the whole thing.

psst. don't tell any one.

Walter,

I wouldn't worry about taking the rails off. They are attached via a few
machine screws and some rivets. Rivets drill very easily since they are
aluminum. The only place you may have problems is with some of the machine
screws. A few of mine were heavily corroded. Some Kroil Oil took care of
that for the most part but i did have to drill two. Took the track (and
headliner) down. Removed the two drilled screws with vise grips to turn
them. One anchor pulled out of the fiberglass roof. No problem.

Walter,
I installed a Guske windshield curtain last Summer. I occupied the better part
of 2-3 hours to install as I recall. The tricky part was being able to
understand the instructions.

I wouldn't be too worried about the installation messing the headliner up.

The old track came down easily. In fact the old track is available at a good
price to anyone that's interested.

The track is screwed and pop riveted in place. Lining up both track halves in
the middle by the rearview mirror was a little tricky.

They have clear plastic brackets that serve to store the windshield curtain when
not in use. I would recommend getting those as well.

All said, I am happy with the stuff I got from Guske.

I spoke with Margaret Guske today. She called me just to check and make
sure we got everything alright and if there were any problems. I told her
of the discussion on the net about her business and tried to talk her into
getting on here and reading about it.

Just be sure to tell her that the GMCnet was what sold you on her services.

They're really nice and caring folks.

I used the new style shades with the new track, very easy to install.
The old track had those nylon sliders which are difficult to find and
mine kept coming apart.
