Texas
Greetings from Texas! After a lot of looking and a ton of research we finally made the move and picked up a 1976 26' Transmode that was upfitted by Coachmen. We were initially looking at 5th wheel toy haulers as we travel to MiniGP, Track Days, and soon to be Karting events. My wife was insistent on something that she could move around in a little while we were traveling. So the search began. We knew we wanted something that we could make our own through restoration. We both loved the styling of the GMC's and the form factor seemed just right. We settled on a unit that needs a complete refurbishment (I will add pictures when I can). Fortunately we paid next to nothing to get into the coach given its condition, and my fortunate ability to tow it home myself, so now we can start the restoration process and see how much this is truly going to cost us (read; I may never financially recover from this). I have already been browsing the forums and gathering ideas and will make a build thread shortly. Part of our decision was based on the group of people involved with theses coaches and their willingness to help out and answer questions. A couple of phone calls from the "Black List" and we knew this was the way to go. We're located in Central Texas, have a couple of little yahoos, I'm a Firefighter in the area, my wife and I also run a real estate development and holdings company. I look forward to contributing here and can't wait to get started. Thanks!

bought mine in 2008, rebuilt engine and steering, still love it.
Try to do as little as possible before using it, too many gutted coaches out there that never see the road again

(There are currently over 9,116 GMCs accounted for)

Find the VIN tag is on the firewall behind the passenger side hood.
Or on the inner glove box door tag.
Or on the title.

* Note about the Build Date of your GMC: From the decal on the inside of the glove box door - look for a number on the top line just left of center, similar to "032174". This example indicates the build date as March 21st, 1974. *

I'll reply with history I know about your GMC.

Thank you

This!

It's great to be enthusiastic and gung-ho with a new GMC, but all too often a new owner will gut and partially dismember it, then starts realizing that it's going to take a lot longer and cost a lot of money to put it back into usable shape... then it gets sold as a project coach, or worse, a donor.

Agree! Use it as often as you can while re-constructing it. As long as it drives well and keeps you dry and comfortable, use it!

This is why my interior is so "rough"; it's mostly functional, but there are interior panels missing and walls that need rebuilding. But it runs down the road safely and straight at 70mph and allows me to store perishables and cook them, plus keeps me cool and warm as needed. Also sleeps 4. And I can boondock without using a generator (lots of solar/battery/inverter capacity). I'll make it pretty as time goes by....
