Camping World's President's Club

Right after I bought my GMC, I went to Camping World and
bought a few things. At the time of the purchase I signed up
for their "President's Club". It seemed like a good deal at the time,
however I have since found out that you can buy stuff at other RV
places cheaper and without sales tax.

My "President's Club" membership is about to expire. I wonder
if I should bother with it.

I keep getting junk mail from them trying to get me to renew. As an
incentive they keep offering me free tool kits and hats. Their latest
mailer suggests that if I don't sign up now, the price of membership
will go up 33%! All this so I can be one of their customers?

They can keep their $.39 tools and hats. I'm tired of getting this
junk mail.

I can't think of any big ticket item that I would buy from them
any time soon. Holding tank deodorant etc. I can get anyplace.

I just want a good deal. What do you guys/gals think of the
"President's Club?" Is it a good thing, or should I pass on it this
time?

Richard,

I agree - I tossed my PC card last year.

I saved many times the cost when I bought my A&E 8500 awning from them.

Thanks to everyone that responded to my questions about
the President's Club. It would appear that it is a good deal
on occasion if you buy a big ticket item.

I did an unscientific test comparing Camper's Choice with
Camping World. I went to both of their web sites and got
prices for a Thetford Aqua Magic IV toilet. It turns
out that Camper's Choice was less expensive.

The prices were as follows:

Aqua Magic IV
president's club price $111.60
Sales Tax * 6.70
Shipping Charges 1.00
Total $119.30

For shipment into the following
states, your state requires us to add
applicable state & local sales tax:
AZ, CA, CO, FL, IL, KY , MI,
MN, NJ, NV, OH, SC, TN, TX,
UT, WA.
- -----
CAMPER'S CHOICE
Aqua Magic IV $115.20
Shipping Cost $0.00
Net total $115.20
Sales tax $0.00
Total $115.20

The big difference for me is that I don't have to
pay sales tax with Camper's Choice.

So I'm going to do it not renew my President's Club
membership. If down the road I need to buy a awning
or something else expensive that has a good price
at Camping World, I'll sign up again.

Richard,
The problem is that the one you want to install is the Thetford
Aqua-Magic Aurora with China bowl which sell for $206.10. This is a
direct fit and is more durable that the Aqua Magic IV. Several member of
the GMC GreatLaker have installed this unit and are very pleased with
it. If I cannot get the valve rebuild kit installed in the old unit
this is the one I will buy as a replacement.

John,
Well I just picked that item as a test to see who had the best prices
for me here in Troy. Camper's Choice or Camping World. I had no
intention of buying one. I should have made that clearer in my post.

I already bought a new Aqua-Magic Aurora last Summer. I bought
it from Camping World. It was one of the best things I did for
the coach. Previously I had a recirculating toilet which really
didn't work out for us.

Richard,

That's the ticket. If you find sometime down the road that CW has the best
price on a big ticket item, you can rejoin at that time. AAMOF, CW will
cheerfully add the cost of your "dues" to the invoice.
