Don't know if they were D or E. Just because they were old I replaced
them... can't help the issue of e or d .

For those who sent in information before the compilation started, please
resend as much info as you have on your blowouts.
Got Dave's, Emery's, and Ron's with complete info.

I take it was a D rated tire. Right? Has anyone, anywhere had a blowout
with E rated tires? Haven't had one response on them yet. Surely,
somewhere, somebody has had at least one.

As for D tires now, with just 25 blowouts reporting, I do believe I would
only travel as far as necessary to the nearest tire shop to replace them
with E's, any kind of E's.

my .02c. When I bought my coach, went on a trip. Came home and all was well.
My son came and said, what happened to the spare. Well, I was blown away, and
so was the spare. Not being on the coach, not being under pressure, not being
anything, it blew up. The steel was showing in great profusion, and the tire
was destroyed. Went to Osburn and asked him to look at the tire. He said,
"Michelin," I said "yes," he said "blew up" and I said "yes." He said, "happens
to Michelins." They were 6 years old and at San Antonio int rally an expert
told us that any tire over 6 years old, scrap or else. They get sun, wind, etc.
and the ultraviolet wears them out. So, I went out and got new set of G159.
Went with 235/85/ which are a wide tire and I like the look of a wide tire. Had
to get a mod for the speedometer, but that was worth it. So, in response to
blow out study, put me down for one spare.

Remember that those Michelins are not the same as the new Michelin XPS ribs.
The XPS ribs are a very nice tire and I have not heard of anyone having a
problem with them. I have to stick up for Michelin since they replaced all 7
of my 14 year old tires when two blew out. Two of them they gave me, and
the other 5 at 50% off. Hows that for a warranty?

How many total miles E's vs D's I wonder.
If my milage is any indication: 220k+ on D's ( one flat ), 5k on E's.

Makes one wonder if the the only reason no E's in the picture is that not
enough milage and age accumulated.

Ran a set of michelin "D"s for 7 years and 20,000 miles with no problems.
Now have Michelin "E"s(225/75/16) with 5.000 and no problems.

Tell me more about the G159 85/235. Any problem with clearance with rear bag
deflatged?? Does it rub on anything in a sharp turn? What pressure are you
running? How does the ride compare with the former? How does the traction
compare? TIA

Don Wirth, who worked for Goodyear for 30+years and was at the international in San
Antonio. He recommended the bigger tires, given that they had a better footprint.
When I installed them I noticed that they are real tight, and if all the air is out
of the air bags, they will go real close to touching. I don't know if they will
touch, but it was close. As to pressures, Don told me to put 65 in front and 60 in
rear. The front is heavier and needed a little more air. I have had them for some
time and am very happy with them. I did have to have a special adapter for the speed
to make up the difference in the wheels.

Can't remember the tires... think they were made in late 1980s, around 1997 or
8. Because when I bought my coach in 1995 they were 5 to six years old.

The only comment I can add to what I said before, is that I had a tire cover on
the spare, and I use the term loosly. I had, because after the tire blew, the
cover was shredded.
