I have sent everyone on my wheel puller list an e-mail including pictures of
the puller etc. If you did not receive this private e-mail than there was
either a problem with your ISP or your e-mail address. Contact me via
e-mail if that is the case. so far I have received 21 confirmations out of
50 who said they wanted to buy the puller.

For others that have sent e-mails to me asking if purchase of a front wheel
bearing puller is necessary. In my opinion it is one of the most sensible
purchases you can make, whether you are doing the work on your own coach or
having someone else do it. Very, very few individuals or shops have the
proper tools to remove and reinstall the front wheel bearings correctly. I
have seen shops use cold chisels taking bearings off the hubs or Toronados
(it works but one careless slip can ruin your hub), use a torch to melt it
off (careless use of to much heat could change the grain structure of the
hub material and weaken it). Why take a chance? If you have your hubs
serviced by someone else, buy the puller and let them use it.If you also buy
a copy of the June 1996 issue of GMC motorhome news than he will have a step
by step procedure to follow complete with picutes.

Netters have gotten together and are having the wheel pullers manufactured
for a complete cost of $180 a set. You will never wear it out.

If anyone still wants to be added to the list send me an e-mail.

Tom In previous posting you cited Sept 1997 issue of motorhome news as
being the one with info on bearing service. This posting reccomends June 1996
issueand I noticed on bottom of puller2 jpg was date of july 1996. One or
all?

Tranny; I'm embarrassed about my history. I seem to be hard on
transmissions. I bought 74 Eleganza at 100k. At about 3500, while in
Kansas City Missouri started slipping badly. I was 8 days before Alaska
Ferry reservations over the 4th of July weekend. You can tell this is going
to be bad with this lead in. The only shop that would handle it was
Certified Transmission managed by Darrell Wilson. He said he'd give an
estimate, but I never got one till he was done. $4700. I made my ferry and
had a great trip all over Alaska. Two years and 20k miles later on my way
to Florida, it started slipping again. Don't know the outcome, but Golby is
looking at it now. I feel like a real chump, but what do you do when on the
road. At home I would have pulled and rebuilt it myself.

When we are done with all of this soul searching about trannys. we hopefully
should be getting some average costs for rebuilding the tranny and noting
some routine problems that others had. If our trannys break down on the
road we will have some strong negotiating ammunition so we don't get hosed.
My gut reaction from other tranny rebuilds is that anything over $1500 is
getting suspicious.

I am receiving a lot of e-mails from netters still wanting information about
the bearings puller. I believe that some of your ISPs are cutting off these
e-mails to you since they contained attachements describing the puller. I
know that since the e-mails are not being returned to me. Sorry about the
confusion.

As a side note 50 netters have ordered bearing pullers so far. They should
be available shortly.

Nelson sent you the information. Since I have not received a check from you
for $100, am assuming that you are no longer interested.I have removed your
name from the list.

Tom, no hurry on my puller == we will be gone to New Zealand for the month
of July anyway. Want to be present at the birth of our first grandchild -
hope we make it.

As always, best regards.
