Good Day all you GMC Motorhome enthusiasts.
I very recently joined this forum and am blown away at the wealth of knowledge, experience, and eagerness to help each other.
My name is Scott and I just purchased a brand new (to me) 1978 GMC Royale - Rear Bath [looking at all of the available floor plans, this is the one I wanted). I also wanted one from the south (anything close to home is usually rusty). So I did buy it from a private party in another state (Arkansas) and am having it transported to my location in Minnesota.
She needs a lot of TLC but I'm good with that.
body is clean (but has sun fade), needs tires and wheels, right side air bag has leak somewhere, two roof leaks - I know where they are. Between the two leaks and the pealing headliner paper I am going to replace the headliner, all appliances work, seats and benches all re-upholstered, ran when last parked, Generator Works, needs battery and won't start.
I bought it last week and since then have been dealing with the transport folks, which is very frustrating and expensive. - a whole other story - please don't get me started. But hopefully they will get their stuff together and I'll see my coach in a few days.
Anyway, in preparation I have already prepared a punch list to start.
Repair Roof Leaks,
Replace tires and wheels (already ordered set of 16" Ions)
Repair Airbag leak (or if necessary, replace with new bags from Cinnabar)
New Brakes
New Wheel Bearings
New Fuel Lines
New Vacuum Lines
Service Engine/Carb
Then I may be able to start enjoying this magnificent machine while I continue the renovation
