I've had an Autometer fuel pressure sensor hooked to my EBL for about 15 years now with no issues. But it was $$$ compared to the offshore sensors.I spec'd a new fuel pressure sensor for the Palm Beach. I've had a couple cheap ones die premature deaths. I'd really like to be able to monitor fuel pressure as I ponder the need for a surge tank, so I'm prying the wallet open a little more.
I'm not sure if it was the pressure spikes from the solenoid valves (injectors), the heat soak, or chemical breakdown that killed them. While they were dying, there was a definitely warm-up period where they would work, and then quit. So maybe it was temperature, or a combination of things. Anyway, I'm trying a Honeywell MIPAN2XX100PSAAX from Digikey for $55. Fingers crossed. It's of the hermetically welded isolated media variety rather than wetted, so hopefully it works for a long time.
That's been kind of my backup plan. What I've been wondering is, who actually makes their sensors? It's got to be TE, Honeywell, etc. No doubt Autometer is probably just sourcing one of those and giving it a 2X markup.I've had an Autometer fuel pressure sensor hooked to my EBL for about 15 years now with no issues. My sensor is along the back wall where the cruise control diagram used to sit. That's been kind of my backup plan. What I've been wondering is, who actually makes their sensors? It's got to be TE, Honeywell, etc. No doubt Autometer is probably just sourcing one of those and giving it a 2X markup.
Speedhut is also in the higher-end gauge market, and sells transducers for ~$95. That's a fair bit less than Autometer from what I've seen, but makes me wonder. Is it a better deal on a reputable brand, or are they overcharging for cheaper stuff?
@RF_Burns I've been meaning to ask, where do you have yours mounted? Somewhat near the throttle body? I've been curious if it's subject to the same heat soak as mine after the engine shuts down.
The new one is rated to operate at 125C, and survivability should be even higher than that. I'd think that is a reasonable spec, so we'll see.
Where did you get the new grill, Don?Simple and easy $600 upgrade:

I really like the valances. Very nice!Worked on getting the 90's mini blinds swapped out for new woven wood shades.
Also swapping out the upholstered valance/side fabric for something with a little more Palm Beach vibe.
YES.....whoever the PO had to do them did a great job with the design and ingenuity. Was kinda strange they didn't do the kitchen one. I had to copy the style for it.....I used sheet metal on it instead of plywood.I really like the valances. Very nice!
Looks sharp!Worked on getting the 90's mini blinds swapped out for new woven wood shades.

That sort of crossed my mind but then I figured.....if they are looking that close they get to see whatever is available...Looks sharp!
When I picked up the rear bath Birchaven in SC and drove it back home I hadn't noticed that the rear window's woven blind above the toilet was a bit different than the other coach window coverings. I drove for about a week stopping here and there, and didn't think anything about looking out the blind covered window while I was taking a pee. I could see out but they couldn't see in.
I invited a friend to the campground to see my snazzy new acquisition, they stepped outside to smoke a cigarette, then knocked and told me she could see right inside the bathroom. What?! With the light on at night from the outside it was like the blind was barely there. I thought about how many times I was standing at that rear window on display. Amazing I wasn't arrested.![]()
My dad always called that the "fish bowl effect". Something I'm always thinking about when it's dark outside. With the light on at night from the outside it was like the blind was barely there.
I like to think, "that's their problem, not mine."if they are looking that close they get to see whatever is available.
