What was that about good, fast, cheap...only being able to get 2 of the 3? This order was all 3.

No I didn't modify the harness at all. Where it was too long I bundled it up and zip tied it. That was just on the passenger side where the relays are located above the passenger headlight.

The entire process took me about 2 hours. It's like that kit is made for the GMC motorhome.

It is a very nice kit.
You have to flare out the back of the buckets just a bit for the lens depth to work....but easy enough to do with an adjustable wrench or pliers.

Follow up report: These headlights are really bright. I had a chance recently to drive at night and stopped a few times to 'dial in' the adjustments. I love to drive at night and these make it even better.

IMO this is a great mod for the coach. Take the amp load off the 50 year old headlight switch and hi/lo switch and out of the dashboard harness. Get full battery voltage onto the headlights, get high quality DOT approved headlights on the road to get great visibility without blinding oncoming drivers.

IMO this is the way to go.

This is a common update for jeep wranglers, TJs and earlier. I remember building a similar set up for my 67 firebird, there are plenty of sites that can walk you through how to set it up. You can even keep the sealed beams if you want, they will still be brighter.
Someone discovered this Toyota package sometime ago and it's a very nice set up it'd be hard to piece together something of this quality. Very nice deal. It'd have saved me a ton of time on my bird if I'd have known about it then.

The whole kit is $15? That’s stupid cheap.

You can’t even get two sealed beam replacements for that.

I ordered some for pickup to my local Toyota dealer!

More like $13 lol

Talked to a friend with an old 70s land cruiser. He said his FJ came originally with a low power headlamp. People were putting in higher power lamps and burning up the harnesses. This is a recall part they are providing to encourage the repair and avoid lawsuits. He personally had bought 4 of the kits LOL
 
Nice to see people taking advantage of this. I originally found this kit because of its application for my TJ (Wrangler). I had already upgraded that vehicle to CIBIE lenses w/ H4 lights. That was before this kit was available. I knew it needed to be talked about for our motorhomes.

Added some new headlights today. I can't stand sealed beams... There is so much better technology available today.

First off, I wanted to do LED. However, I can't stand the look of most of them, and aftermarket designs generally perform as bad as they look. That leaves me with trying to integrate an LED housing from a wrangler... Have you priced them lately? Yeah, I have other things to spend my money on. Plus, while they look and perform better than aftermarket, they still don't match the aesthetic of a 78 motorhome.

That leaves me with an H4 ecode housing upgrade. I'm familiar...

Thanks for bringing this up. Headlights are important b/c I do love to drive the GMC Motorhome at night. There are other options out there but the differences between an LED replacement bulb like the one you used and the Toyota mod are:

Description of characteristic / LED replacement bulb / Toyota mod
1. Installs easily / YES / YES
2. Removes a pretty high amperage load from the 50yo dash switch and harness / NO! / YES!
3. Headlight is DOT approved and won't potentially blind oncoming traffic / NO! / YES!
4. Made by a high quality headlight manufacturer / NO! / YES!
5. Costs less than $20 for entire kit including both headlights / NO! / YES!

Based on the above analysis I ordered the $13 kit from an online supplier, but today I would go to my local Toyota or Lexus dealer and order it through them. It installed like it was meant to go on the coach.

The advantage over stock? I'll add it to the table

Stock headlamp would be a Sylvania Halogen 6024 $22 each at AutoZone

Adding another improvement; replaceable bulb

Ditto. The other night I drove 250 miles on 55mph (suggested) 2 lane back roads. Headlights are great!

It really floors me that the kit is so damned cheap! Why?? The Koito 7" headlamps and H4 bulbs alone are at the very least $40 for the pair. Googling I find people on SOB (car/truck/RV) forums installing them on Jeeps, Triumphs, all sorts of vehicles and saying the same thing - great lights & what a bargain! They must be selling a ton of them.

That depends on what headlamps and bulbs you have now, but generally speaking - yes. I think it was one of Mike's posts that showed how sharp the horizontal cutoff line for the lights is, which means you can adjust the light beam higher and not get people flashing their lights at you all of the time. Higher beam lets you see farther down the road.
