EDIT: This is based on the established Toyota headlight upgrade as posted by MikeH in post #81 here:

I had a bit of fun watching my headlamp order travel at a snails pace from Louisiana to Buffalo taking over 2 weeks.

For $15, plus $15 shipping and luke warm reviews of the company I thought 50/50 chance I was getting scammed LOL

But today it actually arrived! Toyota/Lexus quality lighting that removes the amp load from the headlamp switch.

I'll post order details and report on item quality shortly

If it sounds too good to be true...

I suppose there's zero chance that they're DOT approved.

Yikes, how can it be so cheap? Any chance it's counterfeit? Do let us know how it turns out.

I don't know the back story but seems like the lights, harness, relay setup was addressing a recall?

I agree, it seems too good to be true. Will follow up with info when I install it

Sure looks like real Toyota!

I would say it's safe to order from this company. The shipping was painfully slow, over 2 weeks! But the product is real.

IIRC I got three sets for $40 each, but with free shipping. Not too bad. It's been on the to-do list for at least a couple years now. I'm planning the upgrade for the motorhome, my square-body, and an IHC Loadstar.

I just ordered some, thanks for the kick in the pants. $30 delivered in 8-10 days. 👍 and 🤞

Your invoice is from Revolution Parts, mine from Toyota of Nashua. I think they're related...drop shipping maybe?

The story I heard was Toyota knows there are many loyal Landcruiser owners throughout the world and they to make a high quality upgrade so they could be safe on the road.
It is a very nice kit.
You have to flare out the back of the buckets just a bit for the lens depth to work....but easy enough to do with an adjustable wrench or pliers.

idk but the Ground USPS shipping was absolutely ridiculously slow. I thought for sure I was getting scammed out of $30. It took almost two weeks just to go from LA to AL. I literally think someone could have walked it faster.

Iirc the back of the headlight buckets needs to be trimmed to allow the lamps to fit correctly. Trimmed , bent , whatever it takes! lol

To open up the headlight bucket, I used a die grinder and a carbide burr

If you scribe a line 1/4 inch in from the opening it will allow the Toyota lamp to fit

I found that the 12V battery power was easy to access from the isolator. And the ground was easy to connect at the bottom onto the aluminum ground screw.

I ziptied the relays that switch the headlamps on/off to the convenience light behind the passenger side hatch and bundled the extra harness. You can see where the harness connects to one headlamp connector from the chassis and uses it as a signal to switch the relays for high and low beams:

I used the large boost cable to the rear battery as my path for the harness across the front of the coach from Passenger side to driver's side lamp:

On the driver's side, just disconnect the old headlamp connector and connect the new Toyota one:

It was a surprisingly easy install!!

Nice job. Did you have to modify the harness wire lengths at all?

I ordered the same set after I saw your first post - figured can't go wrong at $30.30 delivered. I ordered through Toyota of Nashua web site but invoice and email were from Toyota Parts Delivered. Arrived 2 days after I ordered.

What was that about good, fast, cheap...only being able to get 2 of the 3? This order was all 3.

Just realizing I should've gotten 2 sets at the same time to save on shipping. 🫤

Todd thank you for posting and details! I got two through my local Toyota dealer for $17 each, in one day, with no shipping or delivery fees! Others can try what worked for me: go to Toyota.com, and look for order parts, it will make you pick your local dealer and inform you that the local shop sets prices even though it is a national system. Ok. Once you pick your dealer, put the part number in the search and go through the buying process, choosing pick up in store if that works for you. I got a notice the next morning it was ready to be picked up. Boom.

Also, does anyone know whether putting the + lead on the alternator post on the isolator will yield any benefit vs the engine side post of the isolator?

Good idea! I never thought to check with my local Toyota dealer lol

If you put it on the alternator post of the isolator you'll only have headlights when the alternator is functioning. Imagine running down the highway at 70mph in the dark when your alternator checks out.

Also, b/c of the voltage drop across the isolator, the voltage at the headlight will be ~0.5 V higher than the normal charging voltage of the chassis battery, instead of 14.4 it will be almost 15V. Probably not an issue.

I put it on the chassis battery terminal of the isolator b/c it was the right size post for the connector on the harness and it's almost directly connected to the battery.
