I have not heard that rumor. I think the last west coast one was Santa Rosa around 10 years ago. I was there but I flew in and transported a coach back to Michigan for someone.
If you do not know it, we are in Indiana near Chicago. These guys have never gone over 1000 miles from home to install windshields. I know they would go to Denver which is around 1000 miles. We talked about it a few years ago. That still puts you 1000 miles or more away. My problem with organizing a west coast windshield clinic is the travel distance, expense, , and time for the installers. If there was enough interest, i might get the one who is retired to drive out there with the truck with installation tools and supplies while the other two, who have regular full time jobs, could fly in.
Also fall rallies have had much higher participation than Spring ones. So that would help for next fall. I am willing to try to organize it if GMCMI comes that way. Let me get through this one this week, and get it finished. Then and we will see what GMCMI does next.
On that gasket. We had one member last year who had both windshields out and the gasket was broken at the corner. He called me and I contacted the e owner of Preferred Glass. The owner told me to tell him to glue the corner with some adhesive that he specified and reinstall the old gasket. I realize that is not the same problem as yours. He said there is no stress at that point so all we want to do it fix it so it will not leak. He did it that way reinstalled the windshields and sealed them like they do. He has had no problems.
At the last rally one owner showed up with his own mew gasket and they installed it. In the process they discovered the coach had been damaged in the past and whoever did the body work made the opening too tall by around 2". Paul figured a way to get it installed and so far has not heard anything back. The jury is still out on that one. Paul has 45 years in the large vehicle glass business. He will attempt almost anything.
Send me some pictures when ever you get them.
I hope there aren't to many spelling errors. For some reason my spell check is not working.
