Hey all, came across an Orange 260 Canyon Lands that was wrecked pretty bad at Malibu Canyon and Pacific Coast Highway Friday afternoon.

The nosecone had been ripped loose from the body, windshields were gone, and rear cone was wasted. I did see Sully Bags on it.

It was a heartbreaker to see someone getting ready for a weekend with their coach, but more importantly, was knowing someone could have gotten
injured. Has anyone heard anything?

No Coach yet but likely center kitchen, dry side bath Royale, 78, 403, hopefully with good original white Imron paint.

Pete,

The front and rear of a GMC are made up of a number of SMC "Panels" according to Parts Book 78Z; I think that's what he means.

Oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car, understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car. Hp is how fast you hit the
wall, and torque is how far you take the wall with you when you hit it.

Wow have been through there several times crazy that it was caught on video. I wonder if it was brake failure or just distracted. I have had brake
failure on the freeway in bumper to bumper traffic in Los Angeles and let me tell you it was super hairy. Old metering valve decided to not work front
brakes any longer unbeknownst to me and in a panic stop blew two holes out of the main rear brake line. Total loss of brakes probably scariest thing I
have been through. Somehow dodged the 3 miles of brake lights in front of me and made it over 3 lanes to the shoulder somehow no one was in the right
lanes. Parking brake didn't stop her and I was running out of road. Had to throw it into park ! After that it was no piece mealing brake lines it was
everything new front to back and everything in between. My advise your brake system is only as strong as your weakest link and that is no way to feel
good with that in the back of your mind. Thank God no one was injured . But a big lesson learned.

Life is too short to hold a grudge; slash some tires and call it even !

Just had some friends over today, they knew about my 1977 Kingsley and they relayed a story about an Oklahoma friend of theirs who's orange GMC was
wrecked in Malibu. I immediately guessed it was the one in the youtube video posted already (7:36 mark) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ff_c48D2CoA.

They said no serious injuries, but of course the owner was heartbroken. She had the coach in Los Angeles but she was not there, apparently a parent &
child (friends of the owner) had borrowed it. Seems likely the brakes overheated on the way down Malibu Canyon Road near Pepperdine. Probably only a
descent of 500' or so to sea level but who knows how hot the brakes were at the start of the grade. Like I read one time, "Brakes are remarkable.
Takes about 90% of a vehicle to make it roll, but just a few brake parts to bring it to a stop" But we all know you can't fight physics. Well, you
can't win, at least.

Here is a pic of the coach in its former glory in downtown OKC:

Thanks for the update, I saw the video and wondered what happened. That's why you don't lend people your RV.
