Hi Folks: remember the earlier thread on another GMC web page for Wheat
Motor Company?
The info below is now on the Gmc MH Int'l page (http://www.gmcmi.com) under
FAQ:

"Question: Did any other Company tool up to produce the GMC Motorhome
after end of production at General Motors in 1978?

Answer: YES, but they ran out of money. The GMC
Motorhome was nearly revived 1982 with the purchase of manufacturing rights
and tooling from General Motors by Donald Wheat. He organized the Wheat
Motor Company (WMC) with several ex-GMC Motorhome officers, the company was
to be based in Rancho Cocamonga, CA. By September 1985 WMC had decided not
to use the GM 454
cid engine and planned to use the Ford 460 cid engine instead. A difficult
problem to solve was the availability of a drive train to facilitate the
front wheel drive. The WMC Motorhome was to be a 1986 model and retail for
$60,000.00. Financing ran out and the WMC was stillborn."
