thanks again- gears are still turning -er, grinding?- a bit, but found a MA-727 air shock is same ends, almost exact same ext/comp lengths, looking closer, theyd clear EXCEPT inside of upper a-arm...
not wanting to adjust front ride height per-se, but the ability to jack up the nose even a inch for crawling up a iffy mountain road in the rockies would be kinda cool...
another goofy thought came to mind- as our driveway is really long and narrow, I couldnt turn this thing around and have to back out...trees by the road= had to have a 'spotter' just to go anywhere... already removed rearview mirror, replaced with monitor for rear/side cameras, yay no more blind spots when driving- but no help backing onto a busy road... so wenr and bought a set of nanny cams, velcro'd cams to bottom of rear cabinets, looking straight sideways up the road- now i can back out unassisted...
thinking, ok, stick the nanny cams under the bumper, looking towards each other, I should be able to watch daylight from tanks to ground maybe even better than a spotter...
my great uncles road to hois property is one of the prettiest places on Earth to me, getting this thing up there should be quite doable- but long wheelbase/low i worry ripping a fuel tank- or even a waste tank- on a rugged mountain road at over 10,000 feet would be a environmental disaster- plus a very problematic recovery with no way to catch especoially fuel leaks...
both temporary underside cameras and temporary air shocks would be cool...maybe being too much of a worry wart, but its been a bucket list dream for a long long time, would hate to drive 1500 miles and blow it in the last 500 feet...
IF, big IF, I get time, sectioning/reinforcing back of triangle inside of upper a-arm looks quite doable, with no other clearance worries- got a buddy who is a real welder- ive put stuff together, even made a new frame for our 65 galaxie long ago, but i'm no 'welder', more a stick it together, heavy gauge /mig is easy... the slightly thinner a-arms though, nah, better get a structural welder LOL...
anyways times prob not gonna allow, so much to do... did get a new roof pod, summit has a little one...got the original pod with the coach, but it was forward mounted/rear air- during prior owner restoration, he moved air forward, added fantastic fans- bathroom vent wont allow moving big pod back... the smaller one catches the plugged mounting holes and misses the vent, so that will give a fair bit of storage- might get a rear hitch mounted tote too...
plans to meet some of the kids out there on the new moon, will be 8 of us camping up in the mountain for a night or two...hauling folding chairs/etc would be tough unless bought out there/left behind...with tote storage outside, the 3-4 of us traveling via antique GMC wont need to worry about it

a long way to go to see the milky way from the thin air/dark skies - but its amazing... saw once when i was 13, will never ever forget it
anyways time to get up and head to work- hope everyone has a truly blessed day - tim
