Windshield manufacturer (Finnland / Europe)?

The N European manufacturer was bought out, has not supplied windshields for quite some time. There is a supplier on the west coast of the U.S. in
Oregon, I believe. We may have one spare right side (green tint) from the european source here in Idaho, have to check.

thanks Jeff, but I am looking for a European source. If you do have any
information from before the buyout, I'd appreciate it.

You are going a long way back in time. Henry has not been active with the GMC group for many years.
The posting you refer to is 1998, almost 20 years ago.

There is a nationwide RV glass company in the USA that will do GMC windows. They advertise in the FMCA Family Motor Coaching magazine. RV Glass Solutions. 888-777-6778. www.rvglassexperts. com

They say they have 2500 locations in the USA. They will come to you to replace a windshield. Give them a call and check their pricing and see if they can do it in Europe or has someone they can refer you to.
The glass you need is Viacon
Part DW0833 and 0832. I don’t remember which is left and which is right.

I have also found a company in the UK that say they operate in 33 countries and say they can do America RVs. 0800 413 044

Thanks Emery. That's a good lead! I'll check the UK one first, but the
other is good to have on the list as well.

Viracon was bought up by another company a few years back and they stopped making GMC windshields after that.

There were in the past some windshields being made in Finland and also S.Africa. The were of poor quality and most knowledgeable (GMC experienced)
installers in the US stayed away from them.

Today the only manufacturer still making them is Coach Glass. After Viracon dropped out of the GMC (and others) windshield manufacturing business,
Coach Glass took over under their own DOT number and started making them. All new ones here in the last few years have Coach Glass inscribed in the
glass. I have only seen one from Finland installed in a coach. Unfortunately, I had no reason to write down the name or DOT number from it. I heard
that the company in Finland also made windshields for locomotives (trains). There was one fellow from Ontario that called me recently stating that he
had one each from S. Africa and Finland. He wanted to know if the guys doing installs at the GMCMI Elkhart rally would install them. The Installers
refused.

Call Jim K. He has some in stock but he also might be able to arrange some kind of drop ship direct from the manufacturer to a European address.

Thanks, Ken. I had not heard that but it has been a few years since my windshields were replaced.

Yes, the windshields in my coach were also made by Viracon. I forget at the moment who bought them.

We tried to get Viracon to make some with an upper tint stripe. It turns out to do so would have required them to got through a new DOT authorization
and new DOT number which they did not want to pay for or do.

We are lucky that Coach Glass still wants to make and sell these because no one else is doing so. It is a very low volume product for them.

Peer - FWIW the manufacturer was ARVA in Finland - my post from 2013 "I like to close out these discussion for future reference - so far i have been
unable to find a replacement for the ARVA windshield made in Finland, and if there are any out there, I think they might be NOS - as in I talked with
ARVA-Pilkerton, and they cannot supply the windshields. They directed me to Duncan and coachglass, both of whom supply only the US -made stuff in
light green tint."
