DAC:
Windshields are specific to the coach and are readily available for
approximately $400 per section, excluding installation cost.
The 3.07 ring and pinion gear was the only one ever offered during the
entire production cycle. However, today you can upgrade it with a number of
units (e. g. 3.21, 3.42, 3.50, 3.55, 3.66, and a combination).
The 403 cid engine is as reliable as the 455 cid offered in previous year's.
Fuel economy with a 403 cid engine is usually slightly better than that of
the 455 cid engine. After all, that was one of the primary reasons GM went
to the 403 cid.

INFO REQUEST:front windshields; Is a generic replacement available or are
they only available from parted out units? Got any ideas what they cost? -
Ugg.
INFO REQUEST:403 engine; The 403 engine used in 1978 coaches would not work
well with the stock 3.08 axel used in previous years. What did GM do in
1978 with the 403 engine in motorhome configuration? Was there any impact
on fuel economy and reliability with this engine?
Thanks, DAC, a prospective owner
