Windows are falling apart

While I had my coach in to Cinnabar for some follow up work on
Tuesday, I noticed my windows are falling apart!

I apparently I have the 2nd version window with a rubber strip
around each of them. The rubber is starting to fall away in a
few places and one of the windows looks like it's in danger
of actually falling right out.

I was told that I can buy replacement rubber at Cinnabar. It takes
2 types and I would need 43' of bead gasket (they call it the small
gasket) at $1.35 a foot and 33' of vent gasket (they call it the large
gasket) at $1.50 a foot. According to math that is about $130 including

shipping and sales tax. Not that much I guess to repair the windows?

I was also told it is a real pain to install. The guy said that after I
do one
window I'll be back to have the rest of them done or I'll be in the
hospital
getting a new thumb put on my hands

Are these prices reasonable? Maybe I should get this from Jim Bounds?

Is it really that hard to install?

I agree that it is a real pain in the a** to install. Suggest that you call
Jim Bounds. He sold me mine and gave me a lot of helpful tips (as
always!!).

Not that hard to install. It is hard on the thumbs though. Get the parts
from Jim. They were cheaper and he has the whole kit. Darren

If you want an alternative, I wil sell you completely redone newly powder
coated, resealed windows. These are like brand new. I really would like to
change to the new style by Enhancements. I am just trying to off set some of the
cost. What are your thumbs and your time worth. If interested contact me and
we can discuss. Darren

As always Arch, thanks for taking the time to share your experience with me.
I should have know, you always seem to have "already been there and done that"
on
most of the things that I have tackled.

The driver side window in the bedroom area has shifted. Most of the small
rubber gasket has separated from the glass. The window has moved about
1/2 inch to the rear. I put some electrical tape on the gap just to keep the
rain
out. The other windows seem to be in decent shape, except the small gasket
is pulling out from the corners on some of them. There is some water leakage
on the one bad window. I don't know about the others. I sure hope I don't
have to take the windows out. I'll call Jim Bounds Friday to get his advice
and order the stuff I need.

Gee it sure seems that my GMC has been very creative and deliberate on the
things it chooses to go wrong. Not enough at any one time to discourage me,
but never the less enough to keep me busy.

Darren,
I'm going to call Jim. I've also begun thumb workouts to get
in shape for the thumb wrestling that I know I will soon be doing.

My window outer retainers needs to be replaced too. And Jim Bounds will be
the source. I think I'll look for a discarded polyethylene (?) kitchen
cutting board and try to fashion some kind of pushing/compressing tool (s)
rather than receding my thumbs' nail line further. JMHO

Ritch, with short thumb nail lines,

As always, best regards.

Yes I will break up the set. Are you planning on going to Albuquerque?

It must be common. While I was wandering around Cinnabar and
Buskrik's the other day I spotted several coaches with the rubber
pulling away from the corners of their windows. I have 3
windows starting to pull away. One if real bad and needs
prompt attention.
