Just put in the engine vents from GMC Coop. Look good, easy to do. I also
bought window felts. I have the old style
windows (still need a window latch). Pulled out the old felt, cleaned out the
tracks and put in new felt. So far so good,
but the window is really hard to slide now. I tried some silicon spray but that
didn't help much. I've only done
one window and am hesitant to do any others if this is how they work. Any
suggestions? I did the passenger side
window by the dinette.

Eric,

Glad the engine vents worked well for you.

You are finding the reason GM went to the late style window frames! The
early windows are "break apart" styles and as such are not always aligned
properly. As little as 1/32" makes the difference in a smooth wondow and
one that defies movement.
The problem is that the frame is 4 sections bolted together and there is no
way to control the positioning of the sections to each other.

There are a few things you can do. The easiest one is be very sure the
tracs are clean before putting in the new felts. If this is done and the
stiffness persists, I have shaved down the back side of the felt to give a
little more room.

The real way to solve the trouble is to "reshape" the frame!! Take a
bottle jack and some 2x4 & 4x4's and actually "jack" out the frame to give
more room for the glass. It goes without saying that you need to be
carefull not to overstress or twist the frame, the fixed glass is captured
by the frame on 3 sides and a push in the wrong direction could do some
damage. Goos luck.

Golby has the latch, give them a call (1-800-872-1462).

Hope this helps,
