Who is the OEM of vac booster? Anyone - Anyone

I think I've asked this before, but does anyone know of an OEM for the brake
vac booster?

It would seem that a group buy of these as a *new* product would be a very
good idea.

I went to a yard today, and of the 3 they had, the diaphragm in all three
must have been bad, they wouldn't produce a vacuum. I got some funny looks
with my 12v gel-cell test battery, vacuum gauge and hoses. On top of that, I
was still wearing a tie from my meeting.

I decided it was best to play it cool, so when asked, I told them my name
was Stora, Emery Stora.

Seemed to me like something he'd be doing. Suit pants, white shirt and tie,
arm load of tools and a 12v battery...

The factory vac booster pumps are made by GM in there mexico parts
operation. NAPA does sell a version also but it is not quite the same quality.

Also a very good idea, and I'll follow up.

However, I was on the quest for another source for the supplemental vacuum
pump if the engine wasn't running...

Gene Fisher reminded me that the part number AC 2723 is available from an
outfit called Master Power brakes.

| May I take another approach on this problem? First talk to Jim Bounds.
| He has a nice take on this. Jim says why not put on a booster that is

| to long so he had to space the unit out about 1/2 inch with washers to get
| the pedal down some. He says the pedal is still "a little high". He claims
| that this booster will "stand the coach on end". Call Jim get the

| e-mail Cardone and see if they will build us one. I did this and they said
| that they did not think the market was there. I did all of this
| to no avail.

I'm told that many of the vacuum pumps which don't work initially, can be
made to work. Bend back the prongs which hold the diaphram together and you
will probably find sand, etc. Clean out the dirt and bend the prongs back
in place to secure the diaphram.

You sound like me. One of our local junkers remembers me as the guy who
filled the trunk of a brand new Caddy with found treasures. Isn't fame
wonderful!

The pump is available new from GM. The part number is 22034995 and a price
of about $300.

Leigh Harrison also sells the pump new.
