Wheel bearings, To do, or not to do?

Of all the things, I can't find a 12-point 7/16" socket. (it is a regular 12-pt and not a triple-square, right?)

We're in lockdown, can't even go out to the shops. Nothing is easy.

I'll go check some more places for one.

It is very seldom the bearing that is worn, but the knuckle.
Hard to tell when the wheel is off the hub as you do not have the leverage
to rock it at 12 & 6 O clock.

So does the knuckle get worn from pressing the bearing in and out, or from spinning outer races? Something else?

I'm not detecting any problem with my bearings, so I think I'll leave them be as I didn't have to take them apart.

The hub and bearings are press fit so it tends to rock in the knuckle as it
is so short.
When you undo the three bolts, 90% will cause the assembly to drop out.
The top portion of the Knuckle will always wear as the load is there almost
all the time.
We rebuild 98% of knuckles .
Our rebuilt unit assembly are warrantied for 80,000 miles without greasing.
This concept was taught by Roland Wilbur and Ken Toma back in 1985 and I
was privileged to be shown how it is done.
