wheel bearings the straight poop on the Timken A-23 set

During our last GMC Heritage cruisers rally in Canada, one of our members
brought a set of Timken A-23 front wheel bearings to our front wheel bearing
technical session. He had purchased a complete set for his coach. He had
bought them through his local auto parts store. He specifially asked for
and orderedc the A-23 set with .095" of axial clearance and the set came
with that clearance marked both on the box and the bearing set. If I
remember correctly they cost in the low $40 range. The club member that
brought the set monitors and contributes to this forum so he may chime in
with some additional information.

Sitting here looking at my receipt from Cinnibar for 2 #1235 Front Wheel
Bearing Kits at $92.50 each, I feel the need for a cigarette. And I don't
even smoke!

How much did the seals cost him?

Billy I think in the area of wheel bearings we are getting hosed by all of
our suppliers. Why should the bearings be so much more expensive than the
toronado bearings and seals? I bought my last set of bearings and seals from
Gateway for $70 a set. Why have they gone up over 30% in a year?

If my memory is still good they price of the Timken bearings in Canada is
even cheaper than here.
Think I will see if they can be bought in quantity directly from Timken.
How many can we sell at cost plus shipping?
