Before we eliminate Mobil 1 as a wheel bearing grease, why does Ken Thoma
not use it? Has he just had good success with Amsoil and doesn't want to
change?

Al believe we discussed this issue at our rally in Canada as I am sure you
remember. Mobil I exceeds every manufacturers spec for all greases. I am
going to use it if I can find it here. Have found other synthetic greases
but not mobil 1.

During his Marion NC tech session on hubs/knuckles/wheel bearings, Ken
mentioned Amsoil and Mobil1 in the same breath. He never said anything
negative about Mobil1. I suppose his personal preference is for Amsoil,
just as mine is for Redline CV2. However, due to the much easier
availability and more reasonable price of Mobil1 vs. the Redline
products, I'm switching to Mobil1. I imagine that Amsoil would have the
same drawbacks - difficult to find and higher in price with no clear
advantage over the Mobil1 syn grease.

Tom,

I couldn't find Mobil 1 either. Through a 800 # they sent a case to
their local retailer. It is selling well. If I can help getting you some let
me know. Are you coming to the Watertown area as you mentioned earlier. It's
$5.99 Cdn a tube.

Patrick, Larry, Manny,

Thanks for your input. All my checking has made me switch to Mobile 1.

Yep going the day or so after christmas to see my mother in Canton NY, near
ogdensburg. Will you be home than? I would like to bring one of my front
wheel bearings to see how it fits to the clubs bearing puller. As you may
remember I have borrowed Nicks puller and would like to compare it. also
need to pick up anything we need that you may have for the turning stone
Casino rally. If so will get the mobil 1 than.
