Hi Bob and everyone!
>What has happened to the wheel alignment tool discussed on Sept 1st??
>Bob McCarthy
Well, I feel I'm close to a final design- I will need to try it out on a few
local GMC's to know for sure, and there should be something to show you all
in a few weeks. Biggest problem is finding a way to ensure the tool reflects
the actual aim of the spindles without getting false readings from slight
variaces in rim flanges/rusty hubs etc.
I've been following the list in Digest format the last several weeks as I've
been on the road for work, however the worst is over at last;-)
In other GMC news, Vic arranged to meet with a couple non Web GMC'ers
locally last Saturday and we dissected a '67 THM 425 Switch Pitch
Transmission.
Had a great time and an extremely interesting discussion regarding the pro's
and cons of different powertrain combinations and modifications. Very much
looking forward to the next step, which is re-assembly of the unit. I think
everyone was suprised at the excellent condition of the parts within the
transmission, all but the intermediate band looked very serviceable, even
the gaskets survived disassembly! For whats its worth, the burned band
appeared to be a casualty of an incorrectly selected (too short) apply pin
during assembly.
Anyhow, I'll certainly post any news on the GMC front as it occurs;-)
