What's the best place to cut the radiator support at?

I'm thinking about 5" from the bottom. I'm putting aluminum angles on the top, and bottom. Then two vertical bolts to hold the lower angles up to the top angle.. 77, and 78 GMC's have a very nice fan shroud. Going to make my 78 shroud into a two piece in a similar way as the radiator support. Bob Dunahugh 78 Royale

I put hinges, located such that the bottom edge was still on the uncurved part, barely. I figured the lower they were, the easier to get the hinges
pins out. Or the bolts if you use angles.

Hard to tell from the photo, but it looks like I cut it 4-1/2 to 5 inches up from the bottom. It is just high enough that the angle is welded on the
flat part of the side just above the radius of the bottom of the support

I like 5 inches from the bottom. You don't need to jack the front end up as much that way.
