What is this and what does it do?

Started as one question and ended up being two (red circle and green circle). The picture is up in the front under the left "hood":

1. What is the thing in the Red circle and what does it do? The power lead wire going through the firewall was run into the fuse box with the 30 amp
SUS AIR circuit breaker.

2. Does all that "gunk" on the backside of the plug look normal? When I looked at the picture the first time it looked like the plug was
melted/burned. When I went back out to the coach it looks more like something used to protect the back of the plug from the elements.

Gunk is fine, the green is just the connector of factory wire harness through the firewall
The red is the fan high speed relay. Connects direct output from alternator to fan when most draw needed

Thanks. I wonder why it was just "shoved" into the SUS AIR slot in the fuse box. I will try and find some kind of wiring diagram and see where it
should be wired.

The fuseholder for the blower in the fuse box probably developed resistance, got hot, and failed. The red wire is a workaround to power the relay
contacts through a different fuse. In your case they used the air suspension fuse, according to what you said. You might want to make sure it is at
least attached to the COLD side of the fuse. I would fab up a different power supply for the relay.
