What goes at the left rear.

Seems to be more ways to make the back into a bed then I ever thought. I've got most of the right rear together thanks to John. The right has a shelf bellow the side window. Most of that shelf opens up to a compartment for storage. The very rear has a 110volt plug facing up in that shelf. And another opening about the size of a dash radio opening. Johns fresh water tank is to the right rear. My tank is at the center rear. John's cushions fold down to make a bed. Mine must use a table top for the center section. So. What does the left rear look like? And the center? Bob Dunahugh

The hole in the passenger side cabinet is not stock. Someone may have put a radio in it.
The other end (the footboard) is just a top and front which covers the waterfall. It doesn’t open but I put two boxes into mine and two oval holes in the front so I could store things there.

There is nothing on the back center except a board with a face to cover the interior of the fiberglass.

If I understand you correctly - the "opening the size of a radio" is for the heat outlet.

Only if he has a gaucho bed setup. The bench seats have a heater outlet by the floor.

If his water tank is in the center wouldn't that suggest he has a gaucho interior?
Just trying to envision the layout he described.

I checked. That other hole is for heat. Just like the photos that Dennis S sent. ( Thank you very much Dennis. ) When I said left rear. I was referring to the drivers side rear. The bed must fold out from the back toward the front. I seem to have 2 folding panels. But I think I need a 3rd. And there must be a water tank cover. Bob Dunahugh

With folding panels it dies sound like you have a gaucho interior.
These are not my photos - Ahamito has an album showing a lot of detail for a 1973.

I have both openings in my 23' '73 Sequoia. The one next to the 110V outlet, and the one on the bottom. Both heat outlets look very original to me...
Which doesn't say much, but hey...

Based on this picture I believe this is a 23'

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/original-details/p53865-1973-canyonlands-rear-gaucho-driver-side-details.html

The Onan battery hatch isdicates a 23. The 26' the Onan battery is accessed through the onan side door. Bob's is a 26'.

Bob - I'll go out and look at mine and try to correlate the pictures you sent, the ones on the photo siite and ones I will take.

Yes the photos were of a 23. I think the 23 and 26 have the same make up with the exception of the duct work - it flows on opposite sides - and some
cut outs to accommodate the wheel wells.
I'll be curious to see the details you photograph.
