GMCers
If it's a deal you're looking for on Windshields and you live on the
west coast, or fancy taking a little drive, then keep reading....
Being a Scotsman, translated 'frugal' in polite company or ...tight
as a duck's derriere( \ over middle 'e'....I'm Canadian,eh! ) in not so
polite, I thought I should let y'all in on this one..............
In Oregon, one of the last vestiges of civilized society, meaning No
Sales Tax , you can have for $830 INSTALLED not one but Two
Windshields. Read on, please....
In Eugene, Oregon, Duncan Systems, a wholesale specialist in
supplying motorhome windshields, has glass for GMC
motorhomes, and they can arrange for installation at their
warehouse. The glass is made in the USA; Viracon is
the name !
A GMC installation was done on Monday May 2 for a total cost of
$830 for both sides. A call was made from 65 miles away at 10:45
a.m. and an appointment was set up for 1 pm. The GMC headed
for Eugene at 11:30 ( fortunately it kept running all the way) making
the trip in 1 hr 15 min. The glass man was a minute or two late,
but more than made up for his tardiness with his speed and
expertise in removing the old and installing the NEW !!
In 1 hr and 45 minutes the job was finished; the windshields were
sealed; cleaned inside and out, and the bill was presented. It was
an impressive job. And as Jimmy Buffet would say, "I Can See
Clearly Now "
For anyone nearby or planning on passing through Eugene,
Duncan Systems can be at 1-888-689-8662. Ask for Randy and
tell him you heard about the windshield deal on the GMCnet. He
will call Charlie at Unique Glass and set up an appointment for you.
Plan on spending three hours.
Why three hours when it takes less than two for the job?
'Cause if it's raining (and it frequently is in Eugene) they want you
to wait an hour before taking those new GMC windshields out of
their shop and out on the road They just wanna know that if
something's gonna happen, they'll know it first
Randy says the price of glass keeps going up all the time (last
year $790 I believe) so he may not be able to arrange for the $830
deal, but he and Charlie did agree to guarantee (hold?) the price for
"at least a week". So, if you want your GMC to have new
windshields at a good price, call quickly
You can also call Charlie, direct, at Unique Glass to arrange for the
installation, but his number's not toll-free. 1-541-463-7735.
The upcoming rally in Sept. at Mt Hood was mentioned, and
Charlie said he'd be very interested in making some installations
there if Jim Bounds doesn't feel like coming all the way from Florida.
