I have on my 76 Glenbrook the Aluminum Wheels, the center cap says Weld
Racing Wheels. I cant find any one around here, that has any Info on
these wheels, I am needing a center cap and Some of these large Chrome
wheel nuts 1 Inch on socket size. I assume some one out there in GMC land
has had need of this. Any help will always be appreciated. And thanks
to all on the Fuel Sending Info. Oh by the way the Biggest liar In
Washington is probably having trouble sleeping, after moving around the
country as he has.

k7ujx1,

A caution on your wheels. That's what I had on mine for a while as they were
recommended by a reputable GMC organization. Probably because that's all
there was at the time as it was before the change to 16" Alcoas became
popular.

Anyways, the wheels are indeed welded and therein lies a weekness. After
about 4 flats I finally clue'd in and threw them all away, yes... I do me
threw them away.

With 20/20 hindsight, my opinion is that the weld is not good enough to
stand up to the GMC's sideways force when making a turn. This would apply to
the rear wheels. Even in reasonable turns there are additional sideforces on
the rear tires/wheels as one or the other slides sideways. (Looks scary, but
they were designed for it... the GMC that is)

What develops are pinhole leaks in the weld. I had one magnafluxed which
confirmed the diagnosis of the problem.

Never had a flat on the front, only the rears and then always slow leak such
as pull into a campsite and wake up in AM with flat. (and that's with always
making sure the GMC is parked "straight" by jiggling for an aft to
straighten all wheels).

And of course due to liability exposure you may be hard pressed to find
someone that'll fix the leak and even if you can find the leak and someone
to reweld it, it'll probably happen again.

On the plus side is that it was not a structural failure but it seemed that
once weakened by a maximum turn I had the flats fairly close together.

I assume yours are still holding air. Avoid sharp turns :-) Easier said than
done, but....

My 2 cents worth

Loctite has a product that seals pinhole leaks in welds...

Oh my... the things we learn on the net.

Too late for me but excellent news for other Weld users.
