I haven't seen motorhomes going across the scales in Maryland, but I have seen
buses have to go across on I95 up north of Aberdeen. I run several trucks with
my trade show business, so I'm aware of these things. I can't speak for other
states, except for Ohio. There I have to drive my F350 dully pulling a 42 ft
goose neck trailer, across the scales. I got caught once on my way to Atlanta.
Normally, it just pisses the troopers off if you take up their time, unless
things are real slow. Then they might even give you your weight for free, but
on the other hand, they might want to do an inspection, ask for your medical
card and expect you to have a CDL, if your weight is over 26000 lbs. I
recommend that you just ride by and don't even wave.

While driving through Maryland last weekend, I noted the signs for their
weigh scales said " All Vehicles Over 5 Tons Must Enter The Scale".

As for now the offical state weight scales and laws cover commerical
vehicle's only unless signs posted advise otherwise, i.e. some states have
posted speed limit signs restricting motorhome speeds.

Emory, the Over five tons, refers to licensed gross weight. Since our
motorhomes are not licensed as commercial vehicles. they are not licensed for any
specific gross weight
