I have a MAC dash in my coach - the big one (the NGMC-2010. My problem is with what I am seeing on the water temperature gauge. When the engine is
fully warmed up the gauge is reading what looks like 240 - 250 degrees F. It's taking its feed from a sensor that's right beside the thermostat
housing on the block. When I "shoot" the sender or the block right beside it with my IFR gun, I get something in the 200 - 2010 range. When I hook
up the Fitech monitor I also see temps in the same range (i.e. 200 - 2010). Since I bought the MAC dash used, I figured there might be a mismatch
between the dash gauge and the sender, so I ordered a new gauge and sender from Mac and installed them - same thing (240 - 250).
Two against one and optimism makes me think (read hope) that 200 -2010 is the right result. Also my oil temperature is reading around 200 degrees F as
well. Any ideas why both MAC water temp gauges read so much higher?
In my past I played around a lot with old Jaguars - E types and Mark IIs have a special dash voltage regulator that takes 12 volts down to what the
Smiths gauges want to see. When the voltage regulator went awry, the gauges would start giving funny readings. I wonder if this could be the
problem.
