Water tank drain location

I'm trying to drain the fresh water tank. I looked under the rear couch for a drain and didn't find one. There is a drain on the hall closet. Opening
it reveals water. With the water pump on, would this drain the tank if I ran a hose out the door?
 
There should be a drain at or very close to the holding tank. Have you
looked around the tank/pump area?

It would help us answer if you could tell us what year and model GMC you have. If you add it to your signature line as I have done below and also add your location. Who knows, you might get someone near you to volunteer to come over and show you.

They vary with year and model.

Most have a lever drain just to the rear lower face of the water tank by the floor. Move it toward the floor to drain.

Create a sig block telling everyone that it is a 76 Palm Beach and you will get more help. Drains vary from year to year and by upfitter.

Also, download the Operating Manual for your year and model and see what it says. X-7621A or X-7621B depending on VIN

Evil engineers conspired to hide those things and PO's may have made it worse. The valve in your closet is on the pressure side of things so won't
help. There may be a valve in the propane compartment that will. Keep looking, it has to be back near the tank. There should be other valve to
drain the sink lines, the bathroom lines and the water heater.

My choice is to drain the fresh tank, bypass and drain the water heater, put a couple of gallons of RV antifreeze (never the automotive stuff) in the
fresh tank and let the pump flood all the pipes. Don't forget some antifreeze in the sink traps and in the black tank 'cause there will always be
something left in there.

The answer is yes! I guess the PO put this in as a way to flush the black tank without having to drag a hose into the bathroom from outside. Now I
can drain and disinfect my fresh tank.

.....and hopefully there is a water pump auto cut off when the tank is dry?? Drained the tank, now pump won't come on at switch. Haven't filled it
yet.

floor. That valve is often stuck and won't turn. If so, you'll have to
remove and replace it. There is no switch that controls the pump if it is
out of water. It will soon run your battery down.

AFIK, the water pump is only active (running) if the rocker switch at entry door is .toggled!

Here's what happened.
I was
Looking for a drain for the holding tank, and found a hose with a valve on it in the closet.
Hooked garden hose up to this, and opened valve.
Nothing happen d until I flipped the water pump switch on the main panel. the pump kicked on, as it has worked with no issues.
Water continued to flow, so I walked away for a minute.
Came back, water was not flowing, pump was off, switch still on.
The water tank is empty(by the sound of me knocking on it)
The pump will not kick on when I flip the switch.
Had to leave at that point, so I have not filled it to see if the pump will prime with water.
It's not OEM pump.
Any ideas?
Also, when running on city water, does it fill the tank? Does it use the pump or pressure from the hose?

You really need to get to that rally and find out what and where things are supposed to be.
It sounds like the exterior city water feed has been moved inside. That is not a difficult repair.

I mis spoke. I was looking to drain the FRESH WATER tank, not the black water tank.

See, my father in law decided to fill the fresh water tank using the same hose that we used THE DAY BEFORE to rinse out the black water tank.

So my goal here is to run bleach through the whole system. Per my beautiful brides' gentle demands.

This is exactly why many of us carry two different water hoses.
The lady isn't stupid.

By the way, use either swimming pool chlorine or
hydrogen peroxide (for hot tubs) and wear gloves.

Hoses are cheaper than trying to cure hepatitis. Throw it away. We use our
potable water tank exclusively in our coach. Hooked up to city water one
time and awoke to water running out the door. Not fun. But we do not drink
the water from the potable tank. Wash dishes, shower, flush toilet, is what
we do. Cook with bottled water. Reason? I have a well at home and no
chlorine. So when I fill my potable tank with it, it is questionable
whether long term use is wise. Just us. I am not too keen on drinking
bleach.
