Water leak

What year and model? I suspect you have an aftermarket splice. Have never seen a "white braided looking" water line behind the closet in my coaches.
I would advise replacing that line with something like PEX. Also, like others have suggested, I would advise not connecting to "city" water. Fill
the tank & pump your water. Cuts down on the leaks while the coach is unattended.

im trying to upload a picture
the coach is a 1976 edgemonte side dry bath
when i try to run off the pump pressure wont build up and the pump wont turn off

Also, never drive the coach with the pump on as you'll not know when a leak
develops and the pump starts running.
I prefer a louder pump as i know when the pump comes on when were not using
the water, that there is a leak.

I just put a $10 leak detector back by my tank. runs off 9v battery and
screams like a fire alarm if prongs on bottom get wet.

This unit has to get wet so it wont alarm you of very leak, but for $10,
its cheap insurance.

ok fools update and other stupid questions
it appears the "splice" looking connection is not a break in the water line but vents the fresh water tank. the line runs from the rear top right of
the tank (which in my models is on the right side under the rear twin) to the wall behind the closet and just sits there. apparently when filling the
tank with city water, once the tank is filled it will continue up this vent line allowing it to leak thru a cylindrical looking screen.
what i dont get is how this is supposed to work. this vent creates an open system that A. does not stop the filling of city water and B. seems to
prevent the pump,when not on city connection, to pressurize the system.
Can someone explain how this works ? it doesn't make sense to me

again- I am not super familiar with edgemonts- yet!

on other coach's, I have seen that fresh water vent tied up to the black tank in a wall space. Stupid as hell, because like you said, if it
over-fills you have a leak. Even though it should never be allowed to fill that full. I have routed mine and a few others to drain out into the
propane compartment and down to the ground.

With that said, the city water should not be able to normally fill up your tank. the tank fill should be a separate spot to fill up just the fresh
tank with water.

your pump should keep any city water from filling up the fresh tank. From my knowledge(based on like palm beach, eleganza, kingsly, ect..), the
fresh tank has a vent at top. a fill at the top. and a line that goes to the PUMP, with a T fitting with a valve to the floor to drain the tank.


So maybe the check valve that is in your pump is junk, and it is allowing your city to bypass the pump and fill up your fresh water. a new pump is
probably in order. You can buy pumps at many price points, and usually(not always), the more the pump costs, it tends to be a little quieter.

Thanks Jon, that makes sense i know the city water is filling the fresh water tank and because the pump wont fully pressurize the system the internal
check valve must be junk i look into replacing that

The pump will oftentimes run continuously if it loses its prime when you
are moving the coach. If you turn on the pump and open a faucet, it will
pick up the prime and the sound will change. Then, if you turn off the
faucet, the pump will build pressure and then stop running. Then you are
good to go. You need to have the air purged from the hot water heater as
well.

I should maybe mention too- I don't think it would make much difference, but good practice is to always have a pressure regulator on any city water
connection you hook to the coach. just in case you have high pressure and that is a problem. the original GMC would not have any built in
regulator like new campers tend to have now.

I've purged the air out of the hot and cold but still get minimal water pressure . Pump when switched on runs continuously . Im going to replace the
pump unless the check valve is a separate fitting and not internal to the pump. Off to camping world tomorrow

I had that problem the first time I tried to use my coach. Turned out that an in-line filter in the output line of the pump had frozen and cracked. Worked when filter replaces IIRC.

The city water inlet ahiould hasve a check valve it the line. Usually hidden behind a cabinet. It will freeze and split, I had it happen. If it
has, the pump will run continuously and water will leak behind the cabinet. I simply removed mine and capped both ends of the pipe. This means I
have to fill the tank and ryun the pump which suits me. Don't have to worry about a pressured leak.
